CTS-V

Post by Unsafe At Any Speed »

I realize this is probably a long shot, but if anyone knows of a 04-05 Black/Black CTS-V in your area, let me know. As soon as I get to California later this week, I'm going to be trying to find one to buy. Any help would be great.

Also, if anyone knows of a cheap $500 beater around Santa Maria for temporary transportation, let me know. It doesn't have to pass smog because I'll just register it in Montana.

Thanks anyway for the help. Turns out there are a few around here locally. Hopefully I'll have one within the next week or two. I'll post up some pics.

Nice car. Little too small for me, but even the 3.6 CTS is a fast car. Good luck on that/
My Fiero is now a Finale. The end.

There's one at a car lot in Warrenton, VA.
I can look at it for you, pick it up, drive it across the country and drop it off, if you'd like (I'd need money for expenses and a plane ticket, though).

Do you know how much they want for it? Black/black? If its a good deal, I might be willing to fly out there or have it shipped or something. If you could take a look at it for me, that'd be awesome. Let me know.

Well, I went and test drove one in LA this weekend. I should own it by the end of the week.

I now own a V. I love this car. I've only had it for a few hours, but still. For one, its fast. Of course, my Fiero would totally own it on the twisties though. :la:

I never did post any pictures up of the V. These ones are really crappy, but I'll get some better ones up soon.

Mods by previous owner:
Corsa Catback
Moore Performance Intake
BMR Anti-Wheelhop kit
Chromed Stock Wheels
V Logo Mats
Tint
Spoiler

In addition to those, I just received my UUC Short Shifter and shifter bushings. Also, in the mail I have coming Kooks headers, hi-flow cats, steel braided brake lines, UUC lightweight flywheel, and rear strut tower brace. I plan to get a before and after dyno of the headers.

I was looking to buy a CTS-V but settled on the CTS (its my wife's daily driver)

A few of the things you need to watch out for is the weak dif and weak engine mounts.

Lots of guys on the CTS-V forum have blown their rear ends, and if you do make sure the replacement is an 06 or newer one. The light weight flywheel should help you out a bit, less shock loading the diff.

Very nice car, I am envious. Black CTS-Vs are badass.

By the way, do a search on youtube for Top Gear CTS-V. I would do it for you but I am at work and its blocked.

Your fiero has nothing on the cadillac in the twisties.

Yeah, I've been on the V forum for a couple years now and some people are on their 5th rear end. So I'm definatly concious of that. But yeah, even two months later I love driving it everyday. So can I get my own forum now for my nuckledragging V8? :la:

Thanks for posting the vid.

I was never a fan of the LSX just because its a pushrod engine. I've come to appreciate it for what it is though. A lightweight, compact and simple V-8 that gets decent fuel economy.

Honestly I wasn't either. I was expecting another LT1. But upon driving it, it feels like a DOHC motor, the way it starts coming on midrange, and the top end pull and sound. It is amazing. The LSX is the only V8 I'd ever want in a Fiero. Except for a 4.9l, I really want one of those too

I know what you mean above the onset of that midrange pull. Even as much as I love the LS6 in my car, I still wouldn't want one in my Fiero. Just doesn't fit the charecter of the car IMO.

Yeah, I don't have my own camera so I have to use my roommates. Waiting on him to get them off the card for me.
