What is a door when it is not AJAR?

I don't know, but the car thinks the door is open all the time now. The AJAR light on the dash is on, yet the interior lights stay off. It goes off sometimes if I slam the door really hard, but then it will just come back on later.

Separate Ajar and interior light switches, on my Formula the ajar switch is mounted on the latch mechanism itself:

good to know, I thought it was damage to my left fron fender that was messing with the door switch, causing my ajar light to flicker occasionally. I guess its in the door handle. I will snip and splice those together.
