Cold Start Injector,Can I remove or unplug it?
I had my injectors out to see if they were leaking, and and they checked out ok.I had no codes before I removed them. Now if my cold start injector is bad, can I remove it or unplug it,or should I buy another one.I'm trying to figure out why my car is running rich and drinking fuel. This post is a continuance of my "Can I remove my PCV valve."

Have you checked the electrical signal to the CSI? IE, have you discounted your temperature switch as the problem? You could also accomplish this by unplugging the electrical connector from the CSI and leaving it.SGT.ROCK wrote:I had my injectors out to see if they were leaking, and and they checked out ok.I had no codes before I removed them. Now if my cold start injector is bad, can I remove it or unplug it,or should I buy another one.I'm trying to figure out why my car is running rich and drinking fuel. This post is a continuance of my "Can I remove my PCV valve."
Does your car have any exhaust leaks? Exhaust leaks at the manifold can introduce air into the exhaust stream and fool the ECM into thinking that the exhaust has excess oxygen, to which the ECM responds by richening the mixture.
Does your car have any other symptoms like popping or backfiring on coast down?

I dont know how to check electrical signals. Should I just replace my temperature switch? I had a leak at the donut part of the manifold towards the back window.,but I fixed it. I dont think my temperature switch is hooked up come to think of it.Because I dont know if it has anything to do with making the cooling fan kick on or not because whoever had this car before me wired the cooling fan to come on when you turn the ignition to "RUN"!The Dark Side of Will wrote:Have you checked the electrical signal to the CSI? Well I got my injectors in and got everything back together and finally got it to run.Now it idles fine doesnt really smell like its running rich and there is no engine codes, but when I go to rev the engine at the throttle body with the breather or air filter off it pops through the intake. What causes that? Timing? My Dad and I just put and new distributor in.Like I said it seems to idle great and I can slowly rev it and it sounds good.Just when I try to snap the throttle real fast it bogs and pops through the throttle body.I also sprayed the lower intake ports with alot of carb/throttle body cleaner awhile back but I would have thought it would have evaporated by now.Any ideas? And as always thanks.
