Got pulled over last night for going slow

Post by Unsafe At Any Speed »

As the title says, I got pulled over last night. Here's the story if you care. I got off work around midnight and since I just moved into a new house I don't really have any food here so I went to Taco Bell (only place open). On the way there I see cops pulling over pretty much everybody. I mean, no joke probably close to 50% of the cars I see out are pulled over.
So anyway, I get my food and I'm on my way home. This cop who just got done with another guy he pulls over flips around and speeds up and starts riding my ass. I honestly thought about brake checking him into me he was so close. I was driving my Blazer which the gauges aren't the most accurate in so I'm playing it safe. Plus I want the guy to quite riding my ass and pass me. He follows for probably close to a mile that close, so I pull into a gas station. He ends up going ahead and waiting on a side street for me. Once I go by he runs up on me and starts riding my ass again. Once I turn on the street to go home, he flips on his lights and pulls me over. He comes up to my window and tells me he started following because I was going slow and that wasn't illegal but it is suspicious. WTF? So yeah, I ended up getting a ticket for not having proof of insurance (just moved and just started driving the Blazer again so I don't have the card) and on that ticket he wrote the reason for the stop as being careless driving. I'm not really sure how going five under the limit is considered careless. I could see how flipping U-turns in the middle of the street, tailgating and not using turn signals could be though, which were all things this guy did.
Sorry for the long read, but the whole thing pissed me off. It's awesome when cops follow you around until you do something wrong (which never ended up even happening in this case).

Isn't it called a speed limit because it's the maximum speed you should go, not that it's the speed you HAVE to go?

You can always tell when a cop's going to pull you over. They're so close to your ass you can't see their headlights. No lie.

Pretty much when I got pulled the guy almost hit me (I got off on the offramp , considered running...).

go to the station and make a formal complaint. Otherwise they will keep pulling this shit.

I had an extremely similar story... when push came to shove, the cop DID apologize to me... Funny thing is, I called him an asshole during the process... and he couldn't do ANYTHING about it...

I agree... all the bad cops give the good cops a bad name
