2002 SS Camaro vs 2010 SS Camaro

Post by Aaron »

What do you all think? Went for a drive and saw this parked, so I grabbed a couple pics.

I think the new one looks better overall, but I can't give up the T-tops, or the more aggressive SS package that the older models had.

Dueled with a 3.6 vvt model today. He lost, but held his own. Pictures of your mom in the passenger seat.

They're all over the place around here already (metro detroit). Two of my co-workers have already bought one. I'm not a fan. Like Hammit said, they look huge. I'm not going to knock their performance though, but personally, I'd take a G8 instead.

They not only look it, they are. Pretty sick when 430hp can't beat 345. I love the styling, but they are too big, and you lose the aggressive difference of the SS package, and the T-tops.

They aren't slow, hell the 3.6 has more power than the Mustang GT!!! But the weight really holds them back. That's girlfriend, and I'll swap a 3800 before I post pics of any girlfriend.

I will, 430hp for high 12s? The Z06 did low 12s with 25 less. I would take the G8 as well.

Damn, I've seen a few of them at autoshows and four of them driving around here, and knew they looked big but not that much. Just looked it up to, they the SS weighs 3860 lbs. That's as much as my car.

They're already becoming a dime a dozen and they just came out.

The V6 2010's are trapping the 1/4 in about 14.4-14.5. The LS3 SS's in a low 13. Some are breaking into 12's with headers and exhaust. They are nimble but no where near quick. I've been reading and seeing alot of SS owners are complaining about the seemingly lack of performance from the L99 SS Auto's. You gotta take in account these 2010's have stability and traction control with the LS3's also having launch control, all that stuff tends to slow them some in acceleration. Also you have to factor probably very few of these cars aren't broken in yet so theres some more in them.

The cars are heavy no doubt like most car's now a-days with all the safety features and crumple zones, and would benefit from some 3.73's or so, I just forget what's in them from the factory. There will be a Z-28 with more power in 2012, and the 'vert next spring.

There is a fair number of aftermarket companies offering full exhausts etc and superchargers, you will see some quick ones around, couple of people are already putting LS7's in them and Hennesay has a LS9 in one.

Looks, personally I like them, which even surprises me because I hated the 4gen's. They look chunky in person, high sideline and a low roof line. You feel very cramped inside even compared to a Fiero and a Fiero has nothing on them for blind spots, thats the first thing I noticed after getting out of a 5th gen and into the Fiero, I was like wow!, the room!.

The local dealer is trying to sell us their Black 2LT, impulse tells me to buy it cause it's the new 'Hot car to have', but I already know the V6 won't cut it and I find the black color hides the cars features. They are going to pull it from the show room for the wife and I to drive next week, I coulda drove it yesterday but will wait untill the wife can too.

I'm 6'2 and I had to put the seat all the way down and lay it back quite away so my head didn't touch the roof, not too dissimuliar from where I have the Fiero seat layed back but I think if we do get one it would have to be one without a sunroof to gain the extra headroom.
Then were talking 44k plus taxes and shit for a 2SS, and that is late model C6 territory.

2010 V6 Camaro is 306HP, 2010 Mustang GT is 315. 2008 Mustang was 300HP.

I don't think the Camaro is supposed to be as fast as the Corvette. After all Chevy is getting damn near $70,000 with opted out C6s, not even ZO6s... $70-80k for the Z06... If the 4 seat, 40k Camaro was faster, how would they sell corvettes?

Sometimes you only need six cylinders to get the job done.

That one in your pics has the SS front bumper and rear lip spoiler although it is missing the emblem on the grill. There is a GFX package available though that's optional.

Only exterior differences the RS package gives is the Halo HID's, body colored roof ditch mouldings and darker tail lights.

I'm thinking the one in the pic is a pre-production CTF car as it doesnt look like it has the production mirrors on it.

I have seen a few around here, and the body looks cheap to me. It is all one color and fairly bland, especially the back, all flat with 4 tailllights cut out. The grille is a cheap plasticy dull grey, and the rest of the car is painted and just bland. Hell the license plate bracket on the one pictured above isnt even level???

I personally like the Challengers look better, they have something to the grille to make it stand out, and the rear end looks nice, and more curvier lines.
