I know I promised to include the adapter plate in the pics, but that'll have to be another day.

Is that the truck motor? They had aluminum heads?

ALL the '01-up truck versions had aluminum heads. Pre'01 LSx engines should be avoided entirely, but the '99-'00 versions were aluminum head for the 4.8L and 5.3L, but iron head for the 6.0L. I've driven an early 4.8, it's well worth the extra price over a 4.3, and I have held the iron heads.

Thanks! That helps alot. I will need to make the center open section large enough to clear all the other ones as well. With a 1/8" plate, those have a good chance of hitting the tranny as well. When I get to the LS swap, I might just modify the 4 upper bolts to be countersunk or button head to reduce their overall height.
I wonder what the LS4 setup looks like?

I too thought about changing to a different style of bolt. I have a spare rear cover to play with, if you want it. It's from a non-LS4. Speaking of which, my LS4 is getting bored and honed to 3.905", so no pics of that from me until I get it in my hands.
