What could I get for this?
I have been considering selling my car. I'm just sick of all the bullshit with it. Not only how it keeps breaking on me. But people don't see me, pull out in front of me, tailgate me, etc etc. It doesn't happen when I drive any of the other cars that my family owns. Just in the Fiero. So I was thinking about getting a 2 door Golf GTI or Golf VR6. Black, black out windows, some nice 5 spoke 17s, full exhaust and a full intake. I would be pretty happy with something like that.
So anyway, here is some info about my car (copied from my post over there). What is it worth (ballpark)? They're not telling me shit over there.
-1987 GT
-130330 miles
-Auto Trans
-Power Windows
-Power Locks (they don't work so well, I think they need to be lubed)
-Power Mirrors (the switch is a little funky, should be replaced. Doesn't always work in every direction.)
-Aftermarket Sunroof
-Loaded except for performance sound and a factory sunroof
-Seats aren't torn. Small hole (cigarette burn?) on the bottom of the passenger seat.
The following has been replaced within the last 3300 miles:
-Shocks and struts replaced with Gabriels
-Radiator and all rubber coolant lines
-Water Pump
-Brake Calipers and Pads
-Ignition System (cap, rotor, wires, module, pickup coil, distributor, coil, NGK plugs)
-Front suspension rebuild (rubber bushings) in progress
-Valve cover gaskets and all intake (except lower-to-heads) gaskets replaced
-Upper intake and valve covers repainted
-Rodney Dickman's SS vacuum lines
-All rubber vacuum lines
-New transmission fluid and filter
-Cold start injector and switch
-Rebuilt headlight motors
The following modifications have been made:
-Catback 2.25" exhaust with Gorlich XLerator muffler (stock tips)
-High Flow Cat
-Fiero Store rear sway bar
-Driving Lamps
-KN filter
-Short Antenna
-Trunk Shelf (not upholstered)
-Black carpet
-180* T-stat
-Sony CD Headunit
-Kenwood 4x10s
-Boston Acoustic 746 Plate 4x6s
-Targa Amp behind passenger seat
-10" Dual (brand) sub in a box on the floor
-17" Wheels and Tires. The wheels are Volution Racing VRD-16 and tires are Potenza RE950s. 215/45 front (brand new) 235/45 rear (50-60% tread). The front passenger side wheel may or may not be bent.
It needs:
-Quarter windows. The current ones are cracked.
-Tail lights are somewhat delaminated across the top, nothing into the PONTIAC lettering yet though.
-Dew wipes
The car is (was?) in very good shape. It was recently in an accident but it is in the process of being repaired. It won first place at Carlisle in the High Mileage Fastback category. I hope that will give some indication of the condition of the car.
Here is a shot of the back from at Carlisle with the stock wheels.
Thanks,
Steve

That is just a personal opinion tho, based upon what I got my car for.

I was thinking $2600. It's nice enough that you shouldn't get fucked out of it, but it's not going to buy that VDub for you, to be sure. I'd say put an ad in the Auto Trader and Trander Online and ask $2900 for it. If you're patient enough, you should get your asking price.
Of course, a big fuckin air horn helps with that whole visibility in traffic issue.

I think the only person that'd give you more would NOT be a Fiero person, the Fiero people know its true value and how it compares to every other Fiero out there. In the Auto Trader, people are going to come by and look at it, and really have no clue as what to expect, and chances are they will like it, and would be willing to pay for it once they drive it.Pyrthian wrote:only another Fiero person would give you more, and most Fiero people already have a Fiero.
Hold out untill someone actually comes up the $$$ - because it is worth it - even if nobody knows it

wow, I would not give as much as you other guys are offering. a couple down sides, the tail lights and quarters arnt in great shape, the auto tranny, and the aftermarket sunroof. 15-1900 in my opinion, I know you can get them for that around here.
"I wanna make a porno starring us. Well, not just us, also these two foreign bitches."
You ever own a stock that you feel is grossly undervalued by the market and it just doesn't move or worse goes down? That's the same feeling I get with fieros.
If he doesn't need the cash, he could hold the car and wait for someone to pay a fair ask price $3k, but if he does, he could take the bid, probably in the 1.5k to 2k range.

Yah I know what you mean.derangedsheep wrote:Hmm, seems I wouldn't get what I was hoping for. It's almost not worth it to sell the car. If I put it up, I was probably going to say $3250 OBO and go as low as maybe $2700.
But, I got my 88GT for what you want out of that, and mine is in perfect shape, with factory leather and a 5-speed(valued at almost $2000).

Cookies for you. You also happened to get extremely lucky to meet up with the right person and had the cash at the right time and was able to travel to get it. Don't let that get the idea in your head that cheap perfect 88 GTs are falling from the trees.Aaron wrote:Yah I know what you mean.derangedsheep wrote:Hmm, seems I wouldn't get what I was hoping for. One thing that makes a huge difference is how you present the car. Don't let the people get you down with stories about how little they paid for their cars. I got someone to pay $3600 for a 4 speed 86 GT with 130k miles. That's what you want to hear about!
If you don't need to sell it, don't. You'll regret it. If you have time to get rid of it, get that "Run til sold" deal from Auto Trader and spend your time detailing it. Change the picture in the magazine every week. Post lots of pictures on line. While people looking in the magazines may not be looking for Fieros essentially, the online service lets people search for the exact car in the exact spot that they are looking for. Do a 100 mile radius search for Fieros in your area, and price yours in the upper middle of the pack.
Yup, I did, and I'll admit it.stimpy wrote:You also happened to get extremely lucky to meet up with the right person and had the cash at the right time and was able to travel to get it. Don't let that get the idea in your head that cheap perfect 88 GTs are falling from the trees.
But, I see a lot of 88GTs for around $3000, in slightly less of condition than his, but still, they are 88, and mostly 5-speeds.
I agree though, you should keep it, $2500 isn't worth losing a car that you know you love.
