4T80E Issues?

Post by Identity Crisis »

I have read that the 4T80e has issues with launches? Something in the Tq Mgt?

I really dont want another Std car and would like to keep the Engine and tranny together for my build.

Can anyone elaborate on this and if so is there a TQ Solution?

Pretty much *ALL* GM automatic powertrains use torque management. The PCM retards timing while commanding a shift in order to reduce torque through the transmission.

Swapped cars without the Electronic Brake & Traction Control Module can have problems with the PCM going into torque management mode because it lacks the "Ok to go to full torque" signal from the EBCTM. In some installations, looping the delivered torque output signal from the PCM back to the desired torque input signal works. In others it doesn't. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why it works sometimes and not others.

This guy's working on hacking the Northstar PCM at the hardware level: http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inject ... on-Project
