AC System as an intercooler Medium?

Post by Identity Crisis »

Since my 87 GT does not have AC, I am thinking of using the AC System that is on my N* to act as a cooler medium for my Forced Induction system.

Has anyone seen this done before?

Interesting... didn't know that product was on the market.

Their A/C stuff is used to chill the water of a water/air intercooler setup. I'm slightly surprised they don't have one for the ZR1 Vette or Caddy CTS-V.

I don't think anyone here has first hand experience with those systems.

I will plumb the system so that I can use an AC core after the Supercharger to cool the incoming charge, very similar to the system the 3800 L67 guys use. Just instead of using a stand alone electric pump and engine coolant, I will use the AC Pump and the R12 or whatever they use now.

There's one called RX Super Chiller that the Caddy and Camaro guys use. Also Active Chiller is one I seen on the camaro forum.

Stay away from rx, that guy us a hack, many horror stories on the forums. I'll be adding the active inter chiller to my caddy as soon as they finish the move to their new shop.
