I have read that there are different lifters for different year 3.4DOHC engines.
How can one tell the differences?
Are these the lighter ones?

Re: How to tell about 3.4DOHC Lifters
Best I can remember, the 91-95 were the same, and the 96-97 were the same, but they're not interchangeable. I believe the 96-97 went 2mm smaller in diameter. 60* used to sell lightweight 91-95 lifters, I've got them in my motor, but not sure if they still sell them.

For some reason, and I can't say why, I want to say that 91-96 all had the large diameter lifters, and only 97 had the smaller ones (2mm is still sounding right).

I will have to do some more research as I am thinking the 96/97 are the same and the 95-older ones are the larger ones. For some reason I was thinking the 97 ones were specific and different.

This is correct. 97 had lifters with a smaller diameter. 97 cam carriers only work with 97 lifters and vice versa.Aaron wrote:For some reason, and I can't say why, I want to say that 91-96 all had the large diameter lifters, and only 97 had the smaller ones .
