OK i have an 87 duke, the dang thing wont start.

i have replaced the coils, plugs, wires, crank position sensor, and fuel pump, it is getting fuel for sure, and must be gettin sparke cuz every now and again it will let out a pop, and a ball of fire. but even think about starting. ne ideas? is there an easy way to check the timing (incase i broke a chain or skipped some teeth or somethin)

ANY IDEAS???

did you replace all of that stuff as a tune-up and then it wouldn't start, or have you been replacing that stuff to try to get it to start?

i replaced it trying to get it to start, it was impounded back in '94 and has sat since. i pulled off the head, everything looks great, has spark and is getting gas as well, replaced pretty much everything fuel and spark related that i could think of. i know my '84 fiero did the EXACT same thing, and it turned out i was 180* off :banghead:

Do you know why it was impounded? Maybe it broke a timing gear. Have someone crank the engine while you look inside the valve cover through the oil cap. If nothing in there is moving while the engine is cranked you need to replace your timing gears. It's a common problem.

Have you checked to see if there were any codes in the ECU? You can short the A and B Terminals on the ALDL connector and the service engine soon light will flash out codes.

Have you checked the fuses?

Are you sure your fuel injector is working all the time? Is it spraying fuel properly? Did you replace the fuel filter when you replaced the pump?
