Break-in, lazyness, stupidity, something else?

I’m starting a Bluetooth install today. It’s like i am playing with the house’s money after fixing/installing a windshield washer pump in 5 minutes. I figured id see what’s going on behind my radio. While the wiring is unexpectedly clean, only a couple wires are cut , i notice when i take off the bezel my hvac is flopping around and there is only two screws holding on the radio.

Anyway so when i come across this stuff I can’t help but wonder wtf happened.

He also makes a version which puts the HVAC control panel at the bottom, thereby creating space for a double DIN head unit in the middle, while still preserving the vents at the top of the stack.

Thanks for the idea. I have been messing around lately with a 3d printer and saw some of those designs on the parts site. Really cool what one can do now.

Unfortunately as a result of having lived in Philadelphia for a short period of time I’m trying to keep the radio looking stockish so I dont have visions of someone removing it while I am running errands in the car.
