heres some guys i talked to who bought the same rods

"Those rods were actually CAT rods which are a knockoff of SCAT rods, initially the seller had led me to believe they were made by a new company (his company) but they are actually drop shipped from CAT. Overall i saved a few hundred bucks because the CAt rods I got from him I could have gotten here locally for about 500 bucks. They are nice rods and i did get a deal, i would do business with him again from a sheer economic standpoint alone. I havent actually assembled my motor yet with these rods but they are a good looking seemingly strong set of rods.Hop i helped"

and

"Hi Donk; Yes they are good, they fit a 2 inch crank like a 3/8 stroker, workmanship ia good. Jay byers"

These arent testimonials...these are the actual emails to me from other buyers. CMON GUYS!

I noticed here that they are for full floating pins. Stock is pressed. Which means we wold need to get pistons made up for full floating pins as well? Dont' they have something that we can get for pressed pins?

Of course one wuold need new pistons with thelonger rods. I already knew that.

What I am saying is though is that with the full floating pin design of the aftermarket rod, one would need floating pins. Now I could be wrong but you prob need a piston designed for a floating pin making off the shelf pistons worthless.

What piston manufacturer has these pistons for 6" rods "off the shelf"?

Every set of custom pistons you order you can select pressed or bushed.

If you dont want the 6" rods why are you posting in my thread?

lets get a group buy of the 5.7's and stop worrying about the 6 inch stuff. Its obvious not too many people want to do it.

2p8 cranks are rare nowadays man. GOOD 2p8 cranks

I can hook you up with a set of 5.7"s for $200. But I really want a set of 6" or its pointless to even build this thing.
So even at $200 a set its still a steal.

Got a 3rd email today from another guy he said
"havent mic'd them yet but they look like they are good quality"

Whatever...doesnt really matter. I can get them for $200 a set. No matter how many people.

Yeah I might as well. I have doubt's they're the HP rating they claim they are, But for the intended HP #'s I'll be looking at they'll be more than addequate. SCAT I beams are 210 or so on Ebay all the time. H beams are usually about 300 or so for the no name ones.. What the hell.

Both of those links are for me Colin? Thanks dude. Thats awesome.

Those Crowers looks pretty decent. it makes me wonder how much the machine work would cost to have them bushed or at least have the large end narrowed to what is it .840?

It sucks there are no good machine shops around here.

Yeah, figure might as well help a guy out, I see 5.7's on there all the time.

I'm not sure how much machine work would cost. I'm in canadialand where prices are quite a bit different I'm sure.

Don't forget the Bearing tang notch needs to be recut when narrowing the rods too.

We have a great machine shop here in wpg that can do both the narrowing and the notch for me. They need to be narrowed to..... ah shit going to have to go by memory (might be off) .859 inch or something wide.

i just looked in my book and its says .854.

Makes me wonder just how much it would be to buy forged Scat rods already made for the 60 degree specs. Then compare to the extra price of having the machine work done.

Costs 100 bucks canadian to have 6 rods narrowed.

Your not gonna find custom H beam rods from Scat for 250 USD.

As I said, I'm in... the price is right. From the emails you've been getting, it sounds like it's on the up and up.

Full floating pins are de rigeur on any performance build.

The Crowers pictured are bushed.

I would think that the bearings can be narrowed as well as the rods... unless the rods get narrowed so much that one side of the tang notch gets cut off...

I think thats what actually happens. New tangs have to be notched.

The relationship between the notch locations of where the notch is on a 60v6 bearing. And where the notch is on a set of SBC's. Different location, has to be cut to use 60v6 bearings.

Why can't one use narrowed SBC bearings? The journal's the same size, right?

You can. Its just a matter of bearing tang match up. And narrowing the bearing of course.

Email from him this morning said "649-651grams each"

Well we dont have a 4th person so it looks like 200 a set and shipping and we all get 2 extra rods.

Will, I need your addy for the shipping quote. Then when i find out what the total is. We will split it 3 ways? Agreed?
