Good luck! Isnt too hard really. I have to finish putting my 4point9 back together once it warms up outside. I really need to move away from this state.

All went well. I got to drive it for the first time today. Although it was just in the yard, it cranked up first turn idled fine and sounded good. Clutch iwas great, everything. You would not know that it had a blown head gasket, but a compression check confirmed it. So we pulled the motor and stripped it down to the block. I'll post pics in a little bit once I resize them and get som motivation. The internals of the engine are clean as a wistle.

When I pulled apart my "good" 4.9 it also looked like the head gasket was eaten through in places. Have to be sure to use fresh coolant in a motor with an aluminum block and iron heads. The older the coolant gets the less anti corosion properties it has. Alot of "cadillac" owners don't really know this or care.

A complete gasket kit was $300 2 years ago for my 4.9 which didn't include the oil pan or timing cover gasket (another $100)

Expensive motor to work on.

Thats ghey.

Find a place to host them. Going there to see pics is too much work for me.

I keep my surfing of Fagland to a minimum.

SO is it done? You able to drive it now or what?

Quit being a lazy ass panzy and go take a look.

The heads are getting machined, magnafluxed and acid dipped as well as a valve job. Should be back tomorrow for reassembly.

If you know how to use ftp, I will hook you up with webspace.

I actually make it a point to not go to fagland for anything.

Here are the pictures.

This is the top of the motor after pulling the intake and valve covers.

Check out how clean the top of the pistons are. There was NO cleaning done! I had just pulled the head off.

This is how I painted the top end. Gunmetal and flat black.

Heads came back from the machine shop yesterday after noon. They got shaved, magnufluxed and acid dipped. I have not seen them yet but I asked MTA to snap a few pics for my collection.

I also forgot to mention that we did a little work to the heads. Didnt have the time or money to do a full port job but we did grind down all the sharp edges in the heads to make them all smooth. REally would have like to do a full port job, but oh well.
