I saw this pic on another post, and reminded me of a question, the black plug on the bottom of this pic, in the middle, what is that for? I think this is the same one I have hanging above my gas pedal on my 86 Fiero, connected to nothting. Is it for the optional subwoofer amplifier? My car must not need it since everything works (except for the backlight on the HVAC, bulb burnt out) in the car.

I want to say Cruise Control. Does your car have that or not?

i want to say something with performance sound. my 87 that i had, had every option except perf sound and i didnt have that pluged into anything. unless its something with the trunk popper, i didnt have that either.

its not for the sound - i just installed one of those in my dad's car.

Maybe thats what its for, the CC you don't have, hence it not being plugged into anything. Just my thought.

plug that goes on the power trunk release switch or the rear defog switch

must be trunk release. i had rear defogger and i didnt have that pluged in

The one that's hanging out of the console?

Looks a little bit like a power window switch connector.

Edit... Is it hanging out in front of the shift console?
If that's the case, I'm guessing it's cruise control wiring.
