Getrag... 2nd grind?

An I just trying too hard or are the transmissions bad about grinding when going to 2nd during spirited driving? It only happens when I'm shifting hard but I don't know of a good way to gauge how hard you're supposed to shift when accelerating hard?

Basically I'm wondering if this is something I need to worry about or not.

Mine doesnt grind, it just refuses to go into gear for about 3 seconds. I blame it on the synchro's, and the fact that my tranny has 340,000KM on it.
