Torque Converter 'Mistake'

Post by Starlite528 »

And it's a mistake I will never make ever again.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS unbolt the torque converter from the flywheel BEFORE you pull the engine. I put a nice gouge in the sleeve on the end of the converter. I got very lucky today; the local transmission shop popped it out and put a new one in for me free of charge.

Dump a couple quarts of oil too?

Yes, always remove the convertor from the flexplate. Life is easier that way.
