Went to the yard today, surprise surprise 3 Fieros.
85GT had a really clean 2.8l, and not much else.
88 Formula was stripped, but it did have the subframe and that excuse for an engine.
87GT had the whole body (minus tailights), in decent shape, and a relatively dirty 2.8. I wouldn't reccomend it for a fastback swap, the glass in the sails was broken.
So if you need anything, I could get it if I have time, but I doubt it. It is called A1 salvage, and is in Colorado Springs, CO. Maybe call them
Oh, they also had a 1992 3.4 DOHC, COMPLETE, and a 1994 3.4 DOHC, also 100% complete.

hehe, I never said cheap...My price is $100 on top of the yard's costs and shipping to pull it, crate it, and get it to a shipping facility. But for all the work it takes, $100 is almost a steal...eHoward wrote:say you can score cheap DOHC 60 degrees and everyone is your friend. :afrocool:
But I also offer a lot, to include new sensors if it needs em and I have extras, new gaskets if it needs em, and if I can, I'll make sure it runs. And if they were to pay extra, I might even swap it into my Z34 and ensure it runs hot strait and normal.

Aaaron can you get the 94 cam cogs, bolts, and tapered ring thingies? You'll need a cam hold down tool, 15mm (?) wrench for the sockets, and something to GENTLY tap them loose. Just cut the belt.
See if you can get a price for them from the yard before you pull them. Send me a message or contact me on AIM (perfectworld8217) if you can do it, I'll pay you for the parts and your time..

Hey donk wanna sell me those cam cogs? Hehe just kidding..
I wonder if Kohburn is still planning to make adjustable cam cogs. That'd be nice to replace the early style cogs for better adjustability without having to locate an OEM set.
Let me know if you find another set or if that motor is toast and you want to part it out.

planning to yes - need to get my hands on a spare set of cogs that can be destroyed first though.Series8217 wrote:Hey donk wanna sell me those cam cogs? Hehe just kidding..

Yes those are them. He will need a 91-95, since the only difference between the 91-93 and the 94-95 are the locking rings, and those shouldn't make a difference on his.Shaun41178(2) wrote:when you say cogs what do you mean? These the wheels taht are ont eh ends of the cams that the timing belt loops on?
If so what years do you need again?
If I can help I will.
Unless he lightens them, a lot, I think they'd be useless. It is just as easy to go to a junkyard, buy a set of 94-95s, and put them on. Or just use the 94-95 locking rings on the 91-93 cogs, and get the rings from the dealer or whatnot.

the point isn't to lighten them (which most likely will happen)Aaron wrote: Unless he lightens them, a lot, I think they'd be useless. its to make the cam timing easily adjuatable without having to pull the valve covers.. when you install the cogs you set em to 0* -- after that you would be able to adjust them by only pulling the little plastic covers.
it would be feasable to go to a dyno and do a bunch of pulls all with different cam timing
that is yet to be determined depending on what I can squeeze in there/cost/feasability/etc
there are a lot of ways but most likely there would be some adjustment screws that you would use a hex key on.. I'm tempted to actually design a servo controller that would allow on the fly timing changes (fully variable cam timing) could adjust it with two knobs (intake and exhaust) or rig up some piggyback circuitry to automaticly make the cam timing follow a programmed curve per rpm, talk about needing some dyno tuning.
it can be done but its a matter of cost..

Wow that is some complex stuff, go for it. I was under the impression that you'd be making what is essentially 94-95 sprockets, where you still have to remove the UIm and valve covers.
Me? I'll just order cams and be done with it.
