1st time dragging
Went to the street legals for the first time in my Fiero, went faster than I thought, but I have to find out a way to launch this, I either got wheelspin followed by low RPM bogging, or just bogging out (2nd run I got down to like 1500RPM).
MY best was my 1st run, spun for awhile, did the usual 3 second 1-2 shift, hit the rev limiter in 2nd, and carried it out in 3rd, which is like th2 Isuzu 2nd, in which it has a large RPM drop.
R/T: .999
60': 2.350
330': 6.568
1/8: 10.160
MPH: 67.43
1000': 13.275
1/4: 15.849
MPH: 88.14
I wasnt expecting the lights to go from yellow to green that fast, all 3 yellow came on at once, then the green 0.5 seconds later. I was idleing when the yellow came on, started reving up then said oh shit, when I noticed the green was on too, and dumped the clutch and mashed the gas. The I hit the rev limiter in 2nd, which comes on at 7200, but cuts back in at 6500, so that probably slowed me down too. It was a fun night, and I drove home just fine. I raced with 1/2 a tank and a spare and stuff, I only removed stuff that was not held down. I weighed about 2750lbs while racing, weighed in at 2820lbs with a full tank, and the stuff I removed, like a spare coil housing and coils, torque wrench, and jack.
My best/worst times from all 4 runs:
R/T: .578/.999
60' : 2.224/2.449
330': 6.568/6.783
1/8: 10.160/10.411
MPH: 68.87/67.38
1000': 13.275/13.532
1/4: 16.124/15.849
MPH: 89.02/87.48

Yeah, my fastest time was the first run, which was when it was still sunny out., then it got slowe and slower by about 0.05 to 0.1 seconds per pass. The track was greasy according to some regulars, and there were thunderstorms in the area so humidity was high I think, probably not the best conditions. There was a Ram SRT 10 there barely breaking 100MPH. Once I get a 3.94 tranny installed, I want to go again, it has a closer ration 1-4, and a taller FDR, where my tranny has a big drop from 2-3, simmilar to the Isuzu 1-2 drop, so I loose alot of acceleration there, and you can feel it. And also, a quicker 1-2 shift would probably help alittle.
There was a modified Chev Caprice RCMP police cruiser, with a cold air intake, and exhaust, on the LT1 (or whatever they use) and I was faster than it!
Oh yeah, in the above video, you can hear my crappy launch, all I did was spin for a while, then went out of my power band when I did get traction lol.

Actually, up here they aren't. I have only seen 1 HO engine in the junkyard here, and that one is in my Fiero now. 90% of the cars in the wreckers here are automatics, including the Quad 4's. But also, most of the 93+ Quad 4's have a hydraulic release bearing, which means no clutch slave, and the clutch master's on the Quad 4 equipped cars are about 2X larger than the Fiero one, so I dont think I can use one.p8ntman442 wrote:the 92-94 should be easy to come by and really you wont bennefit from the w41 5th unless you are road racing.

www.car-parts.com to find a transmission.
If you have the 2.19 second and 1.03 fourth right now, I suggest keeping those. If I were you, I'd swap to the 0.72 fifth and the 3.94 FD. Build a mix/match gearbox and have an overhaul done on it so you can shift quickly.
