Went to Staples and bought an "EASY" button. " That was easy "

Also changed the hinges as planned with the Rodney Dickman set. Great product

Now the work on the body continues.......

Alright....real quick....this is what the molding now looks like with the new hinges.

Now on to the bigger stuff. Today, I had to fit the quarter window trim to the new fiberglass body. First issue was to test fit the plastic and mark where to cut the body.

Next was to trim the excess fiberglass and also trim the lip of the plastic trim.

This is what the trim looks like if I used the stock mounting locations.

This is after some spacing and adjusting.

This is what the piece should look like with the proper height in relation to the decklid.

While I was working on this, I was letting the panel adhesive dry so that I can blend the rear and front fenders into the sill plates to make the car really "flow".....I'm not a fan of seeing too many seams where one part meets the next. Also, since this is going to have a race car theme, the Dzus fasteners arrived today for the hood....

Coming along slowly.....

No....nothing new right now. Unfortunately, I have been getting killed at work so I have not even touched the car since the last update. I'm hoping to get something accomplished real soon. Sorry for the delay guys

A quick Saturday update.....Just to get back into the feel of this build, I decided to test out the logos for the hood. The first pic is the negative masking decal that I will use to paint the logo on.

The next pic is of the Pontiac logo that will go on the windshield....this will just be a decal, no paint on the windshield.

Just to get a feel for the lettering size, I made the whole logo set from decals to see how close I am to the original. This is actually hard because I only have smaller pictures of the original car so everything has to be measured and converted to real scale......this is much easier to correct before paint

More updates tomorrow as the saga continues..........

That looks fantastic, and who will ever know if the scale is off a little, what car are they going to compare it to?

I am going to redo the sizes of the decals for airbrushing. I just really want this to be as close to the original as possible. I am dealing with Jongbloed wheels to see if they can re-create the original IMSA wheels for me. Hopefully, I will hear from them tomorrow.

Glad to see more members coming over from the other "Nazi Controlled" site. The build is going a little slow now because of my new baby so I am spending more time with him and less on the car but things should pick up over the next few months.

How did I miss this thread? I had the same idea, recreating that race car. Always loved the way it looks, and a widebody really makes it look great.

Good luck on the project, should be awesome when its done.

A lot of people, including myself, really like the look of the Huffaker Fiero. In getting some opinions, it seems more people are familiar with the Dingman brothers car so I may change things up a bit and do this.....

A company in Morgan Hill, CA made them. I think they still can, but they're almost a $1000 a piece or something..

Thanks, I'd pay that for some authentic race car rims. Only thing I would worry about is being able to fit my vette brakes behind them. There must be enough clearance for larger brakes.

I am pretty sure that fiero doesn't use a 5X100 bolt pattern.

It probably wouldn't matter, a set, providing he could find them, would cost as much as the car.
