It feels really quick. It just pulls and pulls, 5-8000rpm goes by instantly in 1st and 2nd gear, 3rd just puts you back in the seat, such a cool feeling. The car is rock solid, have a few hours on the motor driving around and probably a dozen hard pulls. Time to switch to synthetic, will do that Friday.

Cool thing is, 91 octane and a few bucks worth of water/methanol for a reliable 430awhp. Time to take it to a dynojet to see if I can put down 500wrhp, that would be cool. I have not pulled the AWD fuse in fear of the car getting completely squirly lol... Still getting used to the power.

It is pretty cool to have 2 nice cars. I drive the GTO to get around or get decent fuel mileage. I drive the GTR when I need an adrenalin rush.

The Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump is LOUD, and I have no stereo in the car so I get to listen to it the entire time... I think I will be swapping it out for a pair of Walboro 255s, a little less deafening.

Anyone heard an in-line walboro? Are they loud or quiet?

A few small updates

Interior is now stripped, and I will be working on removing the rubberized sound deadening with dry ice and a hammer or screw driver.

I also removed the washer bottle. It freed up a lot of room for the intakes, and they have a straight shot of cold air while moving.

The racing I want to do says no interior fabrics. I will be going full cage, FIA seats, Hans device, 5 point harness etc. I want to get the car as light as possible too. Only thing that bothers me about the body kit is the weight of the hood, it's a good 10lbs heavier than the stock aluminum hood.

My last GTR was 3200lbs with full interior, I'd like to get this car down to about 3000lbs or less. Already has no stereo, speakers are gone and I will be looking for other things to remove as well. Maybe next year I will be baller and get some CF doors, we'll see how crazy I get with this build.

Can the body or bodykit accept a stock R34 hood? A CF replacement?

Ditto on the heater core... what about all night enduros?

The GTR will never see winter, neither will the GTO. I have a 4x4 truck for a winter driver.

Heater core will probably never be used. Only way I could see it is maybe to defog the windshield. The rules also state that I will need a fire suit which will be hot no matter what. I will think about it, maybe I'll keep it.

The HICAS (aws) system will also be comming out. With installing a non hicas pump, getting rid of the lines and rear rack for a delete bar saves 80lbs. Most drivers complain that the hicas system makes the car feel uneasy. It only engages over 50mph, the last thing I want is an uneasy feeling at high speed. That might offset the added weight of a roll cage. I was surprised to see a company in the states offers a 10 point moly cage for an R32 GTR.

The kit shares nothing with an R34, every piece is made just for the kit. It would be interesting to see how closely an R34 hood would fit, but I imagine it would be way off.

The SW cage is for drag cars. I almost made the mistake of ordering the one they make for DSMs. Road race cages have different requirements though. For example they need a diagonal bar in the main hoop and a different set-up for the door bars. Definatly check into the rules of the series you want to race in before ordering one.

The defrost issue was the only thing I was a little worried about in my build as well. For one, with the windows always open on the track, I don't think it will be too much of an issue though. However I did see some pictures of a DSM set-up with two small electric hair dryeresque units attached to the stock defrost venting. That's always an option as well.

Build is going good, man. Looks good.

The electric dryers are a good idea.

That SW cage is ok, I would modify some parts of it, like a cross bar. I would also solid mount my rear subframe with the cage tieing into it as well. Looking for max chasis stiffness. I would also extend it through the firewall and tie into the strut bars. Easier to modify an existing cage then to build one from scratch.

I am going to price out custom cages, if they are expensive I will just modify a SW cage.

NASSC (Northern Alberta Sports Car Club) has autoslalom racing events. There is a WCMA (Western Canada Motorsports Association) rule book I have to follow in terms of car modifications.

http://www.nascc.ab.ca/

On the left hit Racing Rules then WCMA Technical Regulations

There are a lot of mods I still need to do to meet regs.

Basically, all those mods are for safety. This is a 600hp car, and if I want to race it I want to make sure it has all the safety features of a real race car. I will try to keep it street legal by retaining the factory seat belts and lights. There is nothing on that list that would make the car illegal on the street.

Thoughts on wheels. I need a set of rims that I can use without spacers. There is nothing wrong with spacers, but I want some real racing rims.

What do you guys think of CCW Classics? They come in any width and offset. I think I would need a 17 or 18 by 11 or 12 with a -8 offset.

Image

I would get these with a black center.

These are what they look like on a wide body prelude

Any other recomendations on rims with custom offsets and widths?

Have you checked out Kodiak? http://www.kodiakracingwheels.com/
Their S-5 design is my most preferred 5 spoke design, short of spending HRE dollars.

Looks like an XK120.

Those wheels are different, the prelude spokes cross, like FieroGT wheels.

Off topic, but this is a bad ass car, RWD prelude with a 480bhp Cosworth Turbo motor.
