there was a guy on .nl with a freak factory 2.8 that was running in the 14s. Fastest stock engine I've heard of.

I haven't run mine in the qtr, but if I had to guess, I would say low 12's around 116 or so based on some of the cars I have raced.
For instance...
Supercharged Mustang GT that ran a 13.2 @ 107 mph. Beat him by a few cars
03 Mustang Cobra that has run 12.0 @ 118 mph, and I was right next to him up till 120 mph. He dynoed 460 whp.
80's style Monte Carlo ran 12.6's @ 107ish, beat him by a few cars off the line, but missed 4th and he came by. Raced again not missing 4th gear, and I slowly came by him(he jumped me off the line) and had about half a car at 120 mph.
Of course I haven't run mine at the track yet, not sure if I will ever get to it, so I guess I don't really know what it will do, but its prob somewhere around there. So I guess what I am saying is don't listen to anything that I have just typed since I don't have a timeslip.
My setup is a turbo 3.4 with nitrous.

I have driven Georges factory freak 14 sec GT...
and I would have to say it's true..
the car launches hard as hell... One thing I noticed that others have too is the gap between the front of his intake and the decklid is twice the distance of any other 2.8 fiero out there.
He also replaces motor mounts a lot.
the car is a true fiero oddity.
Fuck you Shaun , one day those little boys will talk and when they do you will get yours.
I wonder if it truly is stock? Maybe it was swapped to a 3.4 or a 3.1 before he owned it? Factory freak all day long, but over a second, near a second and half, faster than most every other 2.8l Fiero? I find that a bit hard to believe for being stock.

Hard to believe or not but as far as he knows it is a stock 2.8 and it runs in the 14s, time slip provided. I would say it's not that hard to believe.Aaron wrote:I wonder if it truly is stock? It doesn't take a lot of power to run a 14.8, and if he is an exceptional driver, I don't doubt it at all.

I ran 12.86 @ 106 with my Northstar/HM282 '87 GT. The car dyno'd 255 rwhp and 267 rwtq, so there's quite a bit of room for improvement. My 60 was 1.92, but I was running Gabriel struts with 300ppi springs. I had 255/50-16 Firehawk SZ50-EP's on the rear. I was running a Centerfarce clutch.
I conjecture that with the Konis the car now has and a SPEC s3 clutch, I could hit 1.8's or maybe even better. I was limited by wheelhop withe Gabriel struts, and by clutch capacity only slightly beyond the wheelhop.

I can speak for George's GT as well. Although his fastest time was with a power pulley installed, but he ran a 14.9 without it too.
I think along with being a factory freak, the fact that he weighs ~125lbs and knows how to drive it is a big help.

back when I first installed my 3.1 I think 16.1 was my best.
not very impressive. the old TH125 has been replaced with a 4-speed & 4.10 gearset - that was by far the single biggest improvement. i've done much with motor since then also. my next run - when I split open the case of the first 4-speed, I got a 15.7 - but that was with wrecked tranny.
anyways - I will be finding out july 23rd - at the Fiero 25th - wednesday will be drags. there will be 4.9's, sbc's & 3800sc's. and - me & my 3.1......

georges car is quick, but his mph wasn't all that great.
One can attribute his lower then normal ET because he launches hard, I think he gets like 1.8 short times when most everyone else is hitting 2.1-2.2 times. Thats almost a second right there taken off your ET because of his low 60 ft time. Its right on as far as I am concerned.
Its just like Oreif's car. His car is all launch with no mph. He runs low 12's because he was able to cut a 1.7 60 ft time. Take that up to a 2.0 60' and he is running high 12's to low 13's. All launch, no top end. He is like a mustang with gears, traction bars, and tires.

no one really gives a shit what you believe. George bought it from the 2nd owner. It idles like a stocker , I have driven it more than once and raced it when my car was a 2.8.Aaron wrote:I wonder if it truly is stock? Maybe it was swapped to a 3.4 or a 3.1 before he owned it? 90% of the shitty 3.4 swaps out there can't pull his times , and he owned the car before the 3.4 even came out..

speaking of stock with nitrous my old 85 gt with nitrous only on a 2.8 did a best of 14.1 at a measly 90-91 mph. This was about 8 years ago or so back when I was poor and in college
Auto tranny, ported exh manifolds, and underdrive pulley were the only mods. With nitrous it was around 180 whp I think. No longer have the dyno sheets.
With $700 in mods or so I was quicker then Oreifs fully built 3.4 with fully built auto tranny with stall and shift kit that he spent several thousands easy on.
Whats funny is that even now with my new setup, and his new setup where he spent roughly $7k+, I would still beat him and I still just have a little v6. Oreif = slow
