Disintegrating Plastics

I just love how the slightest disturbance of various parts of the car cause things just crumble to nothing or split into bits that fall into the lawn forever.

Case in point; the white-ish colored plastic clips that are supposed to hold the trim on the door to the door. I don't know why I felt the need to mess with it, but I did. At least I fixed the passenger door lock; now I can use the key to lock/unlock the door again. A previous adventure with a slim-jim broke the thing off the thing, lost the clip to the great beyond. Not having the clip, I used a twist-tie.
