Where can I buy new GM electrical connectors?

Post by Aaron »

I want to redo my harness, using all new connectors, and all new wires. Where can I buy the connectors with tails from? Like the common ones, TPS, IAC, CPS, etc?

Thanks!

We carry them under the Motormite/Help line. A good automotive store should have them.

The Advance Auto I go to doesn't have any. Maybe I ought to try like a NAPA or Checker?

I like NAPA myself, could give em a call to see if they carry them. Any of them should be able to order the connectors for you if they're not too lazy.

A lot of times if you ask for something and the desk guy says "we don't have it, sorry" it really means, "we don't stock it and I don't feel like placing the order."

There's always the FieroStore, but I think they're markup is a bit much.

Which connectors do you need specifically? I could see if we have them in stock tomorrow.

I'm not surprised, most of the parts guys don't know shit about cars, and aren't willing to help in the least.

I won't buy anything from the FieroStore anymore, they sell cheap shit.

I need, well, all of them for a 3.4 DOHC. If they are more than a couple bucks a pop, I think I'll pass since I need more of a "bulk" order. Thanks in advance for checking though!

Go find Machs ebay store thread, there were several good links there.

CarQuest has weatherpack connectors.

The real deal is www.powerandsignal.com
They are Delphi's ONLY aftermarket distributor for harness products.
However, they only sell to licensed distributors.
You'll have to get in touch with one of their LTC (less than case) distributors to order what you want.

You'll need Delphi part numbers, too, as no one in that supply chain knows what a "3.4 TDC TPS connector" is.

All the motormite #'s are here:
https://www.dormanproducts.com/catalog/ ... x_bkup.htm
NAPA's Echlin line is awesome. Carquest has lots of stuff on the shelf. Both are a little pricey.
My weatherpack thread had lots of links too...
EDIT:aaron one of the links in my thread had connectors as low as $1.35 each, but that's just hollow. Pins and wires would have to be assembled to snap into them, but they had pins and insulators in bulk. A little more of a PITA, but much better than paying $12 per pigtail at carquest or NAPA.
EDIT again: P8ntman, you're the one who posted it. Here's their weatherpack page Sherwood.
They've got others on other pages too.
Also has the corresponding GM# on Sherwoods page.

Well, turns out buying them through us would be a ripoff. The list price for the more specific GM connectors is around $10 and up.

Definitely not good for a bulk order, with my discount they're probably way less but I wouldn't be able to sneak a bulk amount by.

Ok, I decided I'm going to keep using my stock connectors, as they are in good shape.

However, I do want to replace every wire with a new one. Anyone have links for automotive wire in every color imaginable?

You can reuse the plastic housings and just repin them. Get the correct crimping tool, buy a shitload of wire and terminals, and make new wires.

I've done this many times for sensors on my car. You can get the stuff from mouser.

Did you miss my post in the Parts & Materials library?

These guys have the connectors you are looking for:

www.eficonnection.com

I think if you call them they will sell individual parts.

Waytek Wire (www.waytek.com I think) has terminals for Metripack stuff. It's cheaper to just reuse the Metripack connector cases and repin them with new terminals from Waytek.

Anyone found anyone who sells the triangular plug for the digital EGR for the 7730 swap? No one seems to have it.

Just grab a connector at the junkyard and put new pins in it. It's much cheaper.

guys, I truly can't grasp the value of this, unless you're doing a 1000-point restoration for the competition show circuit. What ever happened to strip/solder/heat-shrink-sleeve?

Splicing is a LOT more time-consuming than crimping a new pin and installing it in the connector.

Splicing also adds an unnecessary point of failure or corrosion. When done right, its strong and impervious to corrosion.. but when done right it costs more $$ than a new pin and takes more time.
