Dood,

you have a nice car , but this guy would murder you, and probably 99,9999% of this forum

best engineered swap I have ever seen (thats 15yrs of Fiero-dom nogs)

keep the pics comin, you raised the bar
you're joking right? 2 of the top 3 fastest 1/4 fieros are on this forum.....
Ok, so 99.992% of the forum. Jeez dude, you don't have to be so picky.
Punisher, watch your math. You were a few thousandths of a percent off.

It would be a good race when this car and my GTR are finished. I will be aiming for around 600whp.

If we are talking fieros, I'm sure this will probably be the fastest one on the board.

Highway yeah, but I think the GTR or Billybo will pull him on the dragstrip. 900hp and a getrag... kabooom if you launch it.

You have seen his Getrag case reinforcements right?
You know that's the only currently known shock-load failure point of the Getrag right?

He will be testing the strength of the gears themselves. At my planned power levels I am already running the risk of killing my 3rd gear. Luckily I can buy an OS Gilken gearset good for 800whp in my stock case. This is a low torque 2.6L engine, so I imagine a 3.4dohc at the same power levels will have more torque and more driveline stress. The GTR transmission is huge and beefy compared to the getrag in a fiero.

He will also be testing the strength of the 3.4 block.

I hope it holds together, if it does there is hope for a manual fiero to get into the 10s. Imagine that, a fun to drive manual fiero that's also fast. :blah5:

Yeah I've seen his case... I question the strength of the gears themselves. Also the axles.

If you've seen the inside of a Getrag... well... lets just say 1st gear and 2nd gear are pretty strong. Axles are going to pop for sure ;-)

Well billybo blew an axle with a whipple on like 15psi? Maybe the turbo lag on that hoss will save him and save his axles on the launch.

the whipple was insane tq. only 9lbs would out flow the m90 at 15lbs. wish i would have dyno'd it and ran it at the track some.

Yes, axles go POP, just hope it doesnt happen at freeway speeds. That
will seriously damage the frame rails and cradel at least.

Trust me Ill keep you all updated on new Getrag failures. i didnt get a
chance to start on the new brace for the diff. But fuel rails are
done. :thumbleft:

Unknown. Unfortunately, if you can't find what year car it was offered in, you won't know without counting turns with it in each gear... or you could just count them when you pull it apart for the case change. Look at the diff too; should be obvious if its the new style or not. They changed in 89 or 90.

Since you are spending a lot of time and money on this setup it might be worth getting some custom axels made.

It would be interesting for you to run a non reinforced 282 and see if it fails on a full power run. I imagine 95% of the failures are SBC guys dropping the clutch with a 30# flywheel.

I'm not sure if this was ever cleared up or not:

Your using a W-body intermediate shaft right?

What axel worked out with that for you?

How about some driveshaft loops for your axles? Or is that too Camaro-ish?

Yes, its a W Body inter. shaft, I used a stock drivers mans axles and
stock passenger w/auto just changed the end and bearing from a stock
wbody axle.

I have mocked up some axle hoops, 4... one on either end of the axle,
much smaller and no need to compensate for much travel.

Levi, Thats a very interesting point ( unbraced ) custom axles are most
likely gonna happen. And A totally custom trans, case and internals. Ive
got over 6k in the engine, think that warrents a similar amount in the
driveline. But just seeing what will happen and how strong it really is with
some external help.

OH you're using the enclosed half shaft? I wonder how much that helps with the structural integrity of the case on that side when you have a good bracket holding the other end. I would think it should add a LOT of stiffness. Trying to crush a tube flat in longitudinal compression is pretty tough!

Exactly, the the mount that comes off to support the tube also mounts to
the cradel with another motor mount. And its made of 3/8's 316 stainless
plate and bar stock.
I pretty sure I put up a pic of it....

I put my new fuel rails in to make sure they didnt leak and well when I
started the engine, knock, knock, knock.... Any one there???

I pulled the pan and the mains are whipped out and the rods have sever
scoring.

Guess its coming back out, I am so pissed!!!!!
