this is what ive been doing lately. I will drive next year (I drove once this year). We will have 3 cars going next season.

He must be running a modified intake. It looks like a stock Quad 4 HO intake on the last pic, but it is obviously upside down, but it must be reversed. A stock Quad 4 HO intake normally has the throttle body pointing towards the bellhousing, which would make a reversed intake point towards the front of the engine, that one is still pointing towards the bellhousing.

our class runs wingless.
unmodified quad 4 engines are all thats allowed. the intakes are cut apart and welded back together backwards to put the air filter at the back, and have it come up rather than down. they are direct drive cars that get a push to start and we have onboard starters so we can start and warm the engines when they are out of gear. We are not sure of weight as we dont have scales yet to dial in the suspension.

there are videos on youtube. search for whipcity quad 4 features.

Its a fun, and relativly cheap way class to race in. You can win with a $100 junkyard D vin motor. Its more driver/chasis setup than engine power. Tires last about a season if you dont wreck.

As redneck as it is (around here, anyways), I've always loved going to the dirt track races at Watsonville Speedway. My friend's dad races a winged spring there and if I ever have any money at all to get into racing, dirt track is probably where I'd start since its the cheapest and looks like the most fun for the money. Spec Miata would be my other choice.

It makes it a lot more fun.

They don't allow the ford 2.3? I know that engine is pretty big in circle track racing.

no they dont. there are a bunch of ford focus nema lites in waterford which is another local track, but its pavement. next year there will be an iron man series, where we race them at their track and then they come race us at our track.

ford focus cars have $10,000 engines and your not allowed to build them you have to buy them from ford.

our entire cars are less than that.

The third car came back from the painter today. No room in the garage so it went into the living room (not mine).

Lots of work and 1 month to do it.
