Need a CARFAX was "what should I buy"

Post by p8ntman442 »

1FAFP68G0YK108232.

Thats the svt I want but it has an aftermarket hood/repair hood. So It may have been in a front end collision before. I know Bosco has access to some wicked Carfax type thing. I will buy one if nobody can help, but why spend the dough if you dont have to?

Thanks.

Its about time I got the wife a better car than what she has.

Budget $5000
Has to hold both kids and some luggage, so fieros are out.
Has to be reliable, yet fun.
The wife wants Black with Tan leather.
25+ mpg desireable on the highway.

So far I'm gonna look at 2000 Contour SVT, and 2001 GTP.

It would be older (early '90's) but you could get a 535 BMW for that amount.

I think a 535 is a far stretch of the word fun. Though it'd be a fantastic car.

What about the late 90s VW's? Find a turbo Jetta or something of the like.

Chrysler 300M Excellent cars and still look damn good.

My in-laws have had one since new, no problems.

Charcoal black with black interior is sexy.

300 M

nice and cheap

3.5 sohc V-6, 250hp. They move pretty good, use 87 octane. I really like the car, I wanted one after we wrote off the Intrepid but I didn't want the same car as my in-laws so I bought the CTS.

I took a look at the maximas, they are almost fun enough. Deffinatly easy to come by.

The SVT/GTP is the kinda fun I'm looking for. We drive a LOT of MILES each day, and mundane is just that.

I'll let you know how much fun mine is once I get to drive it... BUT, are you basing your judging of being "not fun" based on your car? From your description it sounds like your car is in serious need of decent shocks/struts...

After fucking around with old GM's for years, I'll take an older, higher quality car over a newer lower quality car.

You could probably find a MK3 Jetta VR6 for around your price range. My brother used to be able to pull 30 out of his on the highway. It's chipped now but he still gets 27/28.

I cant afford a VW.

My passat is in part out as we speak.

My wife took a liking to the silver with black leather SVT we looked at on sunday. So we are gonna get that I think.

I've heard you need to be extremely up to date on services on those, as the engines can be very temperamental. Read up on the SVT forums, I know on my sister's 2.5 DOHC Contour, everyone runs it either a half quart or an entire quart over-filled on engine oil, and tranny fluid. I'd be willing to bet they do the same on the SVT engine.

Yup, ticking = already fucked.

Half quart over on the oil and you dont suffer from oil starvation. Redline MTL in the tranny and your all set.
