Obama Speech

Post by EBSB52 »

Of all the presidential addresses, this is the first time I've listened/watched one where I walk away not feeling like it was lip-service. Obama has hit the ground running and isn't just babbling some crap about tax cuts, my friends. He is addressing all issues and not pulling punches. Watch out Repubs, this guy is going to be around for a while. Before you get angry, fix your own party and make me want to vote for them due to them being better. Or whine, I don't care.

Perhaps they should have run old clips of the, "Victory" speech on the ship after the invasion of Iraq. That was the RW pseudo-glory days.

one of the better lines, "we have launched a housing plan that will help responsible families facing the threat of foreclosure".

What responsible families are facing foreclosure? Ooops, we accidently lied about our mortgages to get a loan and now can't afford the home we overpaid for that's went down in value with extra bedroooms and granite countertops.

Responsible people facing foreclosure is a pretty small part of the housing mess.

Sounds a lot like the reciprocal of tax cuts for the wealthy.

Sure sallie mae gives good rates for the first two years, then your committed, and your parrents have cosigned all they can so your only options are leave without your degree and try to pay off the 50K you already owe, or add on another 50k in loans at rediculous rates because you dont have a cosigner.

why do you think Im so financially responsible now.

Let me start by saying that I do not consider myself to be a republican. But I'm sure as fuck not a democrat. EB I have a question for you, doesn't congress control government spending. And isn't it strange that we had a democrat controlled congress for 40 years ending in the mid 90s (by the way that's fact) and that's when the so called deficet began to disappear then like magic the democrats got control of congress again and here comes the deficit back. The fact that clinton was in with the republican congress kinda steals his thunder doesn't it. Both bushs had a democratic congress. Just so you know, I don't think any of this shit is one person or one groups fault. When there is a problem who ever is in office just gives what is hopefully their best shot. As far as the deficit goes, I'm told that is the money a country borrows from its citizens in order to keep itself going. I'm not sure that is true but if it is, I'm willing to let myself slide. As for the airplane job your right. If you are contract labor you should make more money, but if your using 30000 worth of your own tools and he tells you the job and you do it with out him coaching or training you, THEN YOU ARE CONTRACT LABOR AND THOSE ARE YOUR TAXES not his. And by the way if you really want to leave the country but can't afford it, I will take up a collection to get you to any country you like. If you promise to never return. How does iraq sound

You can't lump them all together, some families bought at the peak with honest disclosures and the baottom fell out.

I guess retards submit more easily...... LOL...just have to get passed the drool.

BTW, your hated Clnton was bigtime for education, weird to hear you hate him so much and yet he was your aly. I got my degree under Clinton's presidency and I loved the tax breaks and overall cheap education. ASU tuition has at least doubled since JDumbya has been in office, went up 25% over 8 years of Clinton. I would hope Obama could do something. Why not get a 2nd on your house to pay it off?

I know people in exactly that situation. They're still making their payments, because they took a loan they could afford in the first place.

I'm much more curious about why you keep blaming the president for congressional spending.

The funny thing is, neo-cpns/Libertarians (same thing) have all this rhetoric yet no real argument. Here, Brian, I'll start:

- Obama's military spending decrease is a bad idea because____________________________________

- Obama's uni-care is a bad idea because____________________________________

- Obama's tax increase plan for the rich is a bad idea because____________________________________

- Obama's mortgage mess recovery plan is a bad idea because____________________________________

- Obama's bank bailout plan is a bad idea because____________________________________

OK, now feel free to write to extremes, as in, just like your conspiracy theory site, be very wordy and comprehensive. Also, post a realistic alternate plan detailing the benefits and potential pitfalls of it as well. Please, be constructive. Yo0u kind of disolusion me when you write your overly-comprehensive 911 conspiracy theory site, yet come here with 1-liners. It's like Grisham to Bob Hope in 5 seconds. What will you do? Nothing.

Let me start by saying that I do not consider myself to be a republican. But I'm sure as fuck not a democrat.
OK, this is the introduction of a Libertarian. Anti-Dem big-time, but unsure about the Repubs. Welcome to your 3% populous.
EB I have a question for you, doesn't congress control government spending.
This is like a rhetorical question w/o the question mark. It's obvious that you know nothing of the taxation process, so honestly, w/o inflammation, you just ask and learn before you get sarcastic. How the president's annual budget works is that he/she submits a budget to congress, they leave it or tweak it to how they wish, it passes the House and Senate then they send it to the president for signing. He can veto it or sign it. Congress can then override his veto with a 2/3 vote, which after the 2006 drubbing of the R's in congress the Dem House did override 4 of 10 vetoes. They were supposedly lame duck, but as you see 40% is a huge veto rate. So you want to say that the president isn't a huge part of the budget legislation process? Of course under Bush I see how you would get that impression, he didn't veto 1 bill for the 1st 5 1/2 years in office and then it was a stem cell issue, not a fiscal issue. Here's a quick read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Sta ... et_process

The 3 branches of gov; legislative, executive and judicial, they are supposed to have a small overlap to the others, truth is they have a pretty big overlap.

And for war funding or other 1-time funding issues, the president will verbally tell congress what he feels is appropriate, so they usually listen to this and don't draft outside of that knowing he will veto, so he has control of that too, unless congress is ready to override him.

And isn't it strange that we had a democrat controlled congress for 40 years ending in the mid 90s (by the way that's fact)...
Fact? A neo-con fact is a guess, here's further illustration. Remember, congress is the House and Senate. http://uspolitics.about.com/od/usgovern ... sion_2.htm

So 40 years, that's back to 1969:

- 1981 to 1987 Repubs held congress

- 1995 to 2006 Repubs exclusively held all of congress but for the senate when Repub Jeffords went Indep to avoid the Republican monopoly.

Kid, you need to get a clue and actually research before you blab idiotic lies and mistruths. Not to mention that the president is the ultimate and final legislator, absent a veto override which are rare, other than when Bush was recently overridden a shitload.

Actually, to take your point and shove it up your ass, the Dems did have control of congress from 1955 to 1981 and during this period we realized some great economic years as well as the national debt fell during that time twice, and that is a feat that has only occurred 4 or 5 times in US history. So your point is a great one, just not for you.

...and that's when the so called deficet began to disappear then like magic the democrats got control of congress again and here comes the deficit back.
The debt began to heal when Bush passed the 1990 debt control legislation, the Dem congress went along, Clinton passed the 1993 Omnibus bill which raised taxes for the rich, the debt increase fell further. The debt increase was almost gone until Bush pushed thru the 2001 Omnibus Bill, the Republican congress went along, not sure if Jeffords had tuncoated then or not, which cut taxes. Want me to prove this, kid?
The fact that clinton was in with the republican congress kinda steals his thunder doesn't it.
Not at all, his first 2 years were with a Dem congress when he passed a lot of his measures, then he virtually shut down the gov to refuse to let the Nazis in congress have their. Here's another take, look at Clinton with a R congress and look at Bush with an R congress; which turned out better? Case closed, find another strawman to build.

Both bushs had a democratic congress.
At which point do you stop being stupid? http://uspolitics.about.com/od/usgovern ... sion_2.htm

The first 6 years of GWB was exclusively under a R congress, absent the Jeffords default in 2001.

Just so you know, I don't think any of this shit is one person or one groups fault. When there is a problem who ever is in office just gives what is hopefully their best shot.

Right, that's what the losers say:

- In sports gambling: The winner claims to be a genius, the loser claims just bad luck.
- In politics: The winner provides data to support their point, the loser says it could have happened to either party.
- We could draw endless analogies......

Once more, absent the Jeffords defection, Clinton had 6 years of a Republican-controlled Congress, Bush had the same; how was the outcome? Where did the debt and / or deficit go? Time for you to hit bong, kid.
As far as the deficit goes, I'm told that is the money a country borrows from its citizens in order to keep itself going.
I would define the deficit as an annual tally of a negative outcome, versus a surplus, which would be a positive annual outcome. The debt is the grand tally where the government borrows to survive. The debt is borrowed from two sources; public and private. Much of this debt is borrowed from other countries, such as China who I believe is our main debt holder at around 1 trillion, thx in large part to your guy.
I'm not sure that is true but if it is, I'm willing to let myself slide.
Not sure what that means.

As for the airplane job your right. If you are contract labor you should make more money, but if your using 30000 worth of your own tools and he tells you the job and you do it with out him coaching or training you, THEN YOU ARE CONTRACT LABOR AND THOSE ARE YOUR TAXES not his.

This makes no sense. First you start with the concept of me making more money than a direct employee, talk of me using my tools, which I do, 20-30 is a good number, me doing the job w/o training/coaching, hell, I'm an FAA licensed mech and inspector, then you shift off to I should pay all the taxes. You kind of don't make sense here with the flow of your reasoning. All I'm saying is that teh Nazi Party has been slowing pulling out the carpet and anyone to complain is told, PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY GOD DAMNIT. Fascist Ronnie took our healthcare, unions, pay, etc. This past pile rewrote FDR's 1938 Fair Labor Standards Act to revoke overtime pay from some people, as well as he threatened to void union contracts in the workers struck. I was just commenting on the trend now to pay us the same as direct labor and to now pay their taxes too. Not real difficult, if you'd like to stick to what I actually wrote, I'd love to entertain it.
Sorry to say all this in one post but fuck you have like 10 threads
I know, isn't it cool to be able to juggle and chew gum at the same time? Scan thru the threads and look at how many neo-cons actually post data. How many actually explain themselves.
