This is exactly why old cars with little to no miles on them aren't worth the obnixious prices some people want for them.

The local tank shop wanted $300 to do an F350 non baffled diesel tank, to sand blast it and anti-rust coat it. The fiero has a much smaller sender opening and a bunch of plastic baffles, the would think the only way to save it is to open the tank at the seam, blast it, and re-weld it.

I have a line on going and pulling a tank for free this week or next after class, so we'll see.

jelly, I'll take $15,000 for the car.

Sucks you don't live in the NC. I know where there's a good, free, tank hanging out.

POR15 has a tank cleaning/sealing system. You pour in a rust solvent, move it around inside by moving the tank, then rinse, dry, then pour in a liquid ceramic to seal the inside of the tank. My father used it on his motorcycle, still raves about it...

$73 + shipping
http://www.por15.com/FUEL-TANK-REPAIR-K ... info/FTRK/

With all the baffles in the fiero tank, that could be hard. I am going to pull a free tank out of an 85 tomorrow. Most guys sell decent tanks for around $100 that I've seen. So the POR thing may not be the best for a fiero. But thanks for the idea, I'll keep it in mind, my BMW may have a rusty tank and $73 is cheaper than $400+.

Ya. Same thing my dad said when he saw the price on the kit; then he researched a n.o.s. tank for his 84 KZ1100LTD and thought $73 was a bargain.

If neither of you wants it, I'll take the late tank off his hands. PM me to work $omething out.

You mean the 87 right?

I doubt you want mine, but people ask for weird shit.

It's in North Carolina... you do understand that?

If you're serious, and I mean serious as in willing to pay good money to have it shipped a hassle free method, we'll exchange pm's.

Serious about wanting a good late tank? Yes. Not in a massive rush for one, however. If you can, next time you're at your buddy's, get measurements and a guestimate on weight for a shipping estimate to 02861.

Pulled an 85GT tank, shes good, but I still need a 4 cylinder dual plug sending unit. I know my 87 Tech4 had the wrong sending unit for the 84, so I need an earlier one. Paul, start looking haha.

I'm pretty sure the 84 had a year specific plug. Just swap the pump/wiring to the later year.

Yeah that was my new plan, use a different sending unit and re-wire it to 84 connectors. I don't want to switch the body harness to later because in theory this car will be a perfect resto some day.
