From Norway: 380hp/440ftlbs 2.8 turbo???

This guy from Norway is asking on Old Europe about better headgaskets for his 2.8 turbo. He posts an engine-dyno with 380hp and 440ftlbs of torque. Those are some crazy numbers for a 2.8. He said the crank and pistons were custom made.

It looks like they know how to do things right on the other side of the pond!

I saw that. its a good thing he posted his dyno sheet after he made his claim otherwise he would have been banned by now.

I made 370 whp on a 3.4 which uses the same headgaskets as the 2.8(just bigger bore) so I am not sure why he is blowing them. it could be improper torquing, maybe he needs head studs, or maybe his tune is off and is running too much timing. he could have shaved the block or even shaved the heads and taken too much off the heads allowing improper sealing of the gasket. Hell bad gas maybe even. There is too much that it could be to narrow it down based on the info he has given us so far.

Definately cool to see a little iron head 60 degree make that power though. Where is V8Archie?

That is something. Still, you won't catch me trying to push things that hard. Better to just add displacement to reduce stress.

they would have if he hadn't already posted his dyno sheet calling for a banning of him for making hp claims without posting proof. LOL

He made them look dumb without even knowing it. But yea, not even a congrats from the v8 crowd. Its because they suffer from piston envy. They can't do with 8 what others can do with 6. LOL Oh and the no replacement for displacement arguement!! LOL

I wonder if its some magical factory freak or the guy just knows his shit, if its the latter somebody needs to cut him loose on a 3400 or 3500.

It's got 20 fucking pounds of boost, it really isn't that impressive at those boost levels.

bullshit, you stated in your thread that you were on 14 psi when you dynoed. Not only that but your correction factor is bullshit. LOL at your 400+ dyno on 7 psi of boost!!!

Not only that, but you say your car is scary fast and that you had to turn your boost down. Turn your boost down from what? 7 psi? LOL what did you turn it down to 3.5? LOL

Less displacement, smaller less efficient turbo, two valve per cylinder through shitty flowing iron heads and fiero intake, made more power then your fully built 35r dohc 3.4 on 14 psi.

I don't care about the boost, people on OE claim they have grenaded 2.8s because of universal O2s and that the limit for a 3.4L is 200whp, then this guy shows up and lays down 380whp, I don't care how he got there, but hes of nitrous and got there. Aaron your car is totally different, a 3.4DOHC is better than an iron head pr by a factor of 10, of course you made more/similar power on less boost. That's like that guy looking at an Iron duke on 4psi of boost and going I made more HP stock.

My GTR made 430awhp on a mustang dyno at 20psi. I'm only 2.6L but I guarantee my head flows way better than the 2.8. Plus I have cams, ported head and 5 angle valve job. It also helps that my engine redline is 8500rpm, makes peak power pretty much at redline.

That is damn impressive from a 2.8 V-6, don't downplay it. He sould have o-ringed his block to help the headgasket issue from the beginning.

That's a helluva setup for a 2.hate

Isn't the bottom end on a 2.8 and a 3.4 DOHC essentially the same thing? Why would Dennis LaDumbfuck be saying that the bottom end can't take it?

Also, isn't tuning for 13.0 AFR a little lean? I'm tuning for 11.75 on the DOHC... I've always heard turbo cars should have 11.5-12.0 AFR. Couldn't that be causing his head gasket failures?

Turbos can survive 12.5, but why risk it?
