I went 10.30 yesterday

Post by fieroX »

with a 20 mph headwind, and my intercooler pump failed. My charged air temp hit 200 degrees. going to Noble for Buick Vs Ford next weekend and hope to get in the 9's, but It will probably be closer to 10.15. Just depends on the air. Yesterday my altitude density was at -158 feet. Doesnt happen too often around here.

Heres the video.

my high def camera battery was dead, so this is Rare87GT's video with his digital camera. He was running toward the finish to try and get the et on the board to show up, because it doesnt zoom. haha.

Congrats Ryan. Badass setup and I know its taken a lot of work to get there. Lets hope you can hit 9's before they close the track down. Its going to be a tad difficult to cut off .31. Either have to widdle it down on your 60 ft or make it up on the top end but its definately possible. Nice work. :good:

Well i went 1.45 60' on that pass. I dont know how much more i can whittle down. I pulled the front wheels off the ground a little bit. Im missing some big end though. My intercooler pump failed, and we were fighting a 20 mph headwind. Based off my 1/8th mile time (6.538) I should of gone 10.20 on that pass. Hmm. Ill figure something out.

That's faster than a stock Fiero can go in the 4/1 mile. :)

Good work, X.

not sure what my rpm was. I couldnt look at anything but the track at that speed. It gets pretty squirrely with the et streets on the back. I will have Tom look at the scans and find out.

well we found out my rpm was 6300 at 132 mph in 3rd. This is with 2.93 gears. Whats strange is my rpm was 6000 at 78 mph in 3rd right after the 2-3 shift. It shifted into 3rd at 6240 rpm out of 2nd. Then only dropped to 6000. I gained 55 mph through 3rd gear and only increased 300 rpm. My converter is too loose. Its a zzp 2750 stall. I am going to visit Neal Chance here in the next few days and see if they can build me a tighter converter. I seriously think my car has 9.80 potential with the right converter.

But we did find out by looking at the scans that my 0-60 mph time was 2.3 seconds. Eat that Veyron!

I can only imagine how much faster you would be if you would have put a SBC in it. :-D

You definitely have something slipping there in your trans. I don't know if it's necessarily the tc or you might have a clutch pack issue there too.

You might want to contact Dave of triple-edge performance http://www.tripleedgeperformance.com He can get you a custom-built Precision Industries converter for exactly what you need.

Almost every video I've watched from the in-car view of GTPs, sc or turbo, has had too loose of a converter.

That's pretty damn quick. Just goes to show you, when it comes to racing you can never get enough speed. Even at 10.3, you're still going to analyze things to figure out where to get more. I can't imagine being in a Fiero that quick. Not many people would believe a Fiero running low 10s without seeing it themselves, that's pretty impressive.

His car runs 10.30's shaun.. i don't think he needs advice from someone in the low 13's... perhaps the Iron duke crowd can take advantage of your knowledgeabilities.
Fuck you Shaun , one day those little boys will talk and when they do you will get yours.

well my transmission went for a ride on the failboat today. I broke a 15/16" chain after only 3 passes and about 20 miles of street driving. The tranny broke so hard it blew through the driven sprocket support assembly, and then cracked the side pan and main case itself.

So I decided to tear into the clutch packs and they are in perfect condition. So luckily I have a core tranny in my shop that has the parts I blew to shreds, and I can swap in my hard parts. All I need is a GMP 1" chain and my converter reworked. Its going to Neal Chance on Tuesday.

Good! And you only had to go through three or four 60's to figure that out. I'm sure someone we all know and love could build you a TH125 that could take anything your iddy bitty V6 could dish out.

Sounds like you have the issue taken care of.
