Ford....

Post by lucky »

My POS free pickup has started acting up.
To lazy to search; any way to get an EECIV code without a reader?
Also early 90's ford dash cluster- dead voltmeter- thoughts?

Kick it.

The dead voltmeter may be a disconnected wire or a dead gauge. Depends on how it is wired.

Volts are pegged low; fuel now pegged high. Both part of the same gauge. Probably dead. Punching it didn't help, I doubt kicking it will.

I wish I could remember if the paperclip trick worked on Fords, but I gave up caring about the EEC-IV when I decided my Mustang should get LSx power.

I got off my ass and googled. There is a paperclip trick, but it works best with a ~12" wire lead with spade terminals on either end.
