You will notice the miata can outbreak the fiero, as well as outhandle it in the twisties!!! Miata would always gain and pass or pull ahead in the twisties. I am scratching my head here because I just don't get it. FYI this is an 88 with the "better brakes and suspension"

I actually have a prepped AutoX Turbo NA sitting in my shop right now. Handled like a mofo, 3800SC fiero was faster in a straight line.

The weight advantage of the Miata is an advantage. Driver ability can also makes a big difference. Some suspension tuning on the Fiero will help turn in. I liked using a technique similar to the front wheel drive cars. Go into the turn a little fast and use trail braking and drop throttle oversteer to rotate the car. This was on a stock class 88 Fiero with limited suspension modifications.
