I am looking for a Getrag Clutch Master cylinder. Mine completely failed last night, had to drive home on air pressure clutch. I don't really have a spare $98 for a new one right now, so I was looking for a good used one in like the $20-30 range. Or if someone could point me towards a rebuild kit for my old one.

FYI they changed them for 87-88 (the line is in a different position).

Also, there are no differences in the master cylinders for Isuzu/Muncie 4spd/Getrag. They are interchangeable.

EDIT: Typing fail. Slave --> master cylinder.

I am confused now. What are we talking about.

I need the clutch master cylinder that sits in the front of the car in front of the pedals. I know 87-88 were different. The line sits in front of the reservoir. The rear seal failed so all the fluid leaked out the back in front of the pedal into the carpets. Teh internets gives different part numbers for 282s vs. dukes.

My slave cylinder on the transmission is fine as far as I know.

You need the 2nd design MC that started in 86. It is the same MC whether it is the Duke or V6. The problem with the internet is that the information is only as good as the source ( what's wrong with piffle tech forum ).

Now, there is a 2nd and 3rd design Fiero MC. The difference is the acuator rod, the 3rd design uses a plastic bushing on the banjo end, but the actual master cylinder is the same. The actuator rods are interchangeable, just pull the boot back and release the C-clip and change them if need be.

Your 88 is the 3rd design but you can use a 2nd design Master cylinder if that is what is available.

Engine or transmission are no factor for a Fiero Master cylinder, it's either the 1st ( 84- 85), 2nd, 3rd design ( 86-88 )

Okay cool that makes sense. Advance gives the same part number for 88 4cyl vs. 6cyl, it was some other part site that had two numbers for duke vs. v6.

anyone have a nice 86+ clutch master cylinder they want to let go for like $20-$30?

$20 bought me a boxful of used ones, ought to tide me over until I buy a new one.

Feel free to delete this thread.

I have a design 2 around here somewhere Its untested but i have pushed the plunger by hand and it seems to work. You can have it for $10 plus shipping if I can find it. Its an original but it only has about 20K on it.
