I thought the 300C ('05) competed against the CTS ('03) originally. First V was '04 which is before the 300C and SRT8 as well.

I've never seen a thread go in so many different directions and be so funny. Any of you know about the late '70s GMC Street Coupe? Puts the '90-'93 454SS Chevy pickup in proper context.
Pickups can't corner, but they get closest when they're 2WD, SWB, lowered, and light. The 572 hurts that part about light, but otherwise, yeah.
Dual rear wheels really won't help traction for a truck like this, but sticky Mickies will. ( Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro tires ) And with a truck, no need for tubs when Dually fenders already exist, and are not only easier to do, but make the truck look tougher. Plus no need to butcher the frame, alter the gas tank, and so on.
The Allison has a 3.10:1 first, Cincy, which isn't bad. The other ratios are closer than the 572 needs, but that won't hurt acceleration beyond time wasted on extra shifts.
If you want a truck to look good, SWB is the only way to fly. But if it's gonna be used for any work, it better have a long bed. And at that, it better be at least a 2500.
4WD is no true advantage for a sport truck, you're just overloading the front tires too much for best possible cornering grip. And usually the 4WD front suspension geometry is all wrong. Especially on Cummins and PowerJokes, which use Dana 60s. That'll never help cornering.
My haul-ass 572 truck can go halfway around the base of the mountain faster and far cheaper than your 4WD truck can go over it, and I'll have more fun. (Assuming a closed course, no cops, no spectators)
That's why I specified the what-if truck be built the way I typed in the OP.

Why not build the truck with a dmax on 60psi and make 1500 ftlb.

Why? You don't need 1500 ft-lbs to have fun. You're missing the point. If I had just bought a legit Countach, what would you be suggesting? I'm sure it would be practical but unnecessary. Sometimes, the fun is in the outrageousness or outright silliness. The Typhoon was outrageous in it's day. The Syclone was just plain silly. See the difference? this truck I proposed is outright silly. It would also put all the diesel bitches in their place, BEHIND it.
For as long as we can get it, gasoline rules!
You can have the same HP from a smaller, lighter package that can be bolted to a thinner, lighter frame which can survive with a lighter suspension, and so on. That may not be what we get with my proposed last hurrah to big block sport trucks, but diesel's place is not yet to replace gas. Sadly, that day must come, but not yet. Thank goodness.

Countach, no thanks. Diablo 6.0, yes please.

Audi won the 24 hours of LeMans in a diesel, and got the best fuel economy to boot. Diesel isn't just for your grand-dads farm truck anymore.

Diablos aren't on posters because the restyle lacks the character that is what the Countach ended up being all about. Diablos are so bland. You fall asleep just looking at one.
I appreciate what diesel is for, I own one and have driven dozens. And sport trucks aren't it. Your modern diesels are a solid 1500 pounds heavier than a 572. That's at least 0.25 g worse cornering. Cornering isn't everything, it's the only thing. After all, noone actually lives on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

So why bother with a truck at all? Use the truck to haul the car that can actually go around a corner. I've driven lowered sport trucks, they still suck in comparison to cars. I'd rather have a beefy solid front axle truck with more towing power than I know what to do with to haul my Countach around. Hell a fiero will out-handle a lightning or SS.

I think a diablo is more comfortable and easier to see out of the than the countach, but ive one sat in them never driven.

I'll race whatever truck you want around a race track. I'll probably burn more gas from my little 2.6L but I'll spank a big block truck all around your mountain.

Straight 6 twin turbo. 600hp, All wheel drive, all wheel steering, 3000lbs wet.

Trucks are for hauling and pulling. If you want to go fast, you need a car.

PS. My car is only tuned for 20psi. I will be getting another tune soon for 30psi now that my motor is broke in. I'd like to see 600awhp when I'm done Image

 Yes and its owned in a country where any retard can buy it ship it and drive it without smog ramafacations.. Your a badass now. Id like tto see that thing beat my buddys silverado RST engine worked to the teath with a remote mount turbo system. Pushing a lot more than your 600HP. Or his dads 1256HP T bucket. The V8 in that thing would even make shit head shawn shit a gold brick.

P.S. nice job beaning out your skyline. You cant even finish the job with R34 taillights? You get an F for Fail :)

So? The car was basically stock when it got here. Between the previous owner and I, we have put over $50k into modifications into the car. The car is designed to TURN and go fast in a straight line. Show me a 1256hp car that is ment to turn corners. You can't.

I bought the R324 kit for the WIDEBODY only. I could give a flying fuck about having R34 tail lights. I can now run 12" wide rims all around.

Why do you talk about other people's cars? Why not talk about your buddy Ferrari and his F1 car? Sure it will beat me around a track, but it's not YOUR FUCKING CAR.

Get a life, a job and a car faster than mine. Then We'll talk faggot.

Do you even know what a 600hp skyline can do? No amount of power in a big heavy truck will even come close to a GTR around a race track. This is a video of a 600hp R34 which is 600lbs heavier than my stripped R32 around a track
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42KwIMakoaE

Show me a video of your faggot friends truck around a track that is as impressive as that and I'll bow down to you. Until then STFU BITCH!

Crazyone, you musta been too drunk to read. That wasn't the challenge, because it's off topic, and because I couldn't win it. Your car is awesome beyond words, except that ugly wraparound airdam with the ugly strakes. But it's not for me. If I won a lottery, I'd do an R34. But I've never had a chance to earn that kind of $$, so I did something even more difficult than earning that kind of $$: I learned to enjoy what I can get.
Cincy, getting a sport truck to corner is exactly comparable to getting a FWD car to launch. Neither is wise. But: Anyone can get a Lotus Elise to corner, the truck is the challenge. You try living a life without challenges, then tell me where the rewards are. :-)

Just FYI, R34's are not legal to import into Canada yet, has to be 15 years old to import, this is the first year you can import a R33 though.

I think the first sport truck was the Dodge Dude from 1970:

http://www.allpar.com/trucks/dodge/dude.html

Which reinforces my point that Dodge had the guts to do something different, then everybody copied later.

I actually have one of these trucks, well, it isnt the Dude version, but it is a 1971 Fargo 3/4 ton.
