When you are interested in Northstar pistons, I have a set of '93-'95 and a set of '96-'99's on the shelf. They both have ceramic/moly coatings. I had the later set done by mistake, and did the earlier set before I realized I was being stupid to not spend the money on aftermarket forgings.

No, it shut off on closing the throttle. Running on stock tune at the moment, Darth is hooking me up with copies of the Olds Motorsports Ethanol tune. It runs, revs, and idles much nicer with the proper fuel ratio. The fuel is also a 6 months old.

the N* pistons will be for other blocks that alread need boring.

Difference between '93-'95 Northstar pistons and '96-'99 Northstar pistons:

'93-'95's take 1.5mm top ring, 1.5mm second ring and 3.0mm oil ring
'96-'99's take 1.2mm top ring, 1.5mm second and 3.0 oil.

I'll take $350 + shipping for either set (that's about what it cost me to have them coated).
The '93-'95's HAVE BEEN FIRED.

Also have these (CP forgings):

Flat top with deeper than stock valve reliefs. On a Northstar, they would probably drop compression from 10.3 to 9.9-10ish
Howard and I have been discussing a Northstar swap on his '86, including the possibility of building the engine. I'll give him first right of refusal for these. If he doesn't want them, I'll let you have them for $750 (probably would cost about $1000 to reproduce).

If you don't need valve reliefs, '00 and later Northstars have pure flat tops WITHOUT valve reliefs. I might have a couple of those around... not sure I have 4; I know I don't have a full set of 8.

After taking these pics, I discovered that I have a stash of Y2K pistons... not sure how many, but at least 4. They use a smaller piston pin than the earlier pistons, and are TRUE flat tops WITHOUT valve reliefs. Not sure if that will work in a Q4. The Y2K pistons have NOT been coated, so I'll let them go cheap.
