Modified harmonic balancers for 3X00 swaps

Post by Shaun41178(2) »

I doubt there will be anyone here really interested in this mod since most here have other engine swaps, but I am going to start offering harmonic balancers for use with the 3X00 swaps. This will allow for an external crank trigger when converting to DIS. Mainly this will be for 3500 swaps, as the earlier 3400 and 3100 had the 7x crank trigger already cut on the crank.

The 3500 motor has a 56x wheel I believe. So the whole bottom end would have to be torn down, or just use this modified balancer.

WOT tech was offering a similar setup for these engines but from what I hear, they are on backorder, or the company has stopped making them.

They will look something like this.

Price will prob be around $150 or so unless I can get the machinist to do it cheaper based on how many I do.

Like I said, prob won't be too much interest here, but perhaps on other forums so keep it in mind if you see someone talking about doing this swap.

Thanks

Actual price? What about the sensor bracket...am I missing something, or is it expected that the purchaser would build their own sensor bracket? Is there a core charge and/or reduced price if a damper is supplied?

Final price is going to be $130 which is cheaper than I thought it was going to be. I talked to my machinist and if I can get 3 balancers togethor he can do it for $110 each. Even more and it will be cheaper. A balancer will have to be supplied, since I don't have any laying around. You can still buy them new, junkyards have them, also I know WCF sells them. I bet people will be willing to almost give them away I would imagine. If I have to track down a balancer, then whatever that cost is will be transfered to the final price.

The sensor bracket will have to be made. I haven't built mine yet, but I also figure everyone will want to do it their own way. Mine when done isn't going to be flashy, and some might not want a part without the bling factor. Also some might not want to pay for a blinging part if one was to be made.

When i get around to doing mine, I can provide copies at a higher price to the package. I am not looking to make a true bolt on kit here although something can be provided in the future if there is demand. My goal is that this mod will make it that much easier to install a 3X00 into a fiero, more specifically a 3500. Not everyone knows a machinist, or has the tools to do it themselves. I am simply offering a part of the puzzle to make it happen.

I don't expect to sell a ton of these so I am not going to go out buying up balancers to have them on a shelf ready to go. These will be made to order.
