Rear wheel bearings

Are there any usable rear wheel bearings in the aftermarket? I'm in need of a pair. Not sure if I should hit up the junkyard or if I can actually buy some decent ones.

I tried Timken a few years back and they failed within 500 miles.

Do any of the aftermarket bearings have rollers?

Check out the archives of the FIero Racing List on yahoo groups (yeah, I know, but these are Fiero owners we're talking about).

They have the short list of which bearings last and which don't.

Please post results, if you find any.

I'd do it, but I'm wiped from putting together a BMW head until 1 am, then installing it this morning.

Good info here:

Apparently some of the aftermarket bearings use rollers.

The GM ones have ball bearings.

One poster in that thread said OE units are still available from GM. I'll need to find the part number.

The Switches, Inc. wheel bearing/hub shown in the above thread has Koyo JL69349 bearings in it. It looks like it might even be rebuildable. Would be nice to find a few of those. I guess I should take apart my bad Timken to see what it looks like inside. Maybe it's rebuildable too...

I googled "Switches, Inc" in Indiana and got zilch.
