I want that shifter! The last link you posted Will, wouldn't that kill the synchros?

The SQS shifter does mention an "electromagnetic" version that's designed for use with synchro boxes.

I would *expect* that it could be used with a synchro transmission. Any mechanism that works to move the shift fork is going to make the synchro work. However, it won't be able to *complete* the shift and move the shift fork to its final position until the synchro has done what it's going to do. The ratcheting mechanism may or may not be suited to deal with that.

I WANT THAT SHIFTER TOO!

I also think it would be cake, relatively speaking, to build one to work with the semi-remote shifters used by BMW's (and other manufacturers, including Corvettes).

I've been thinking for a while that I could use street-rodder universal door lock solenoids to operate the 282 (or any other, really) shift shaft at the transmission. The separate brake fluid pump and accumulator from an early Teves ABS (or an equivalent newer, more reliable pump and accumulator) could be used in conjunction with a small diameter, short stroke clutch slave cylinder linkage to provide the mechanicals for paddle shifting anything...

So that evo uses a $1,600 shifter arm, to select first?

I assume that his "air system" simply operates the sequential shifter. I was annoyed that the shifter wasn't in frame when he was pushing the buttons in the video.
