OE Fiero strut housing inner diameter

Post by Series8217 »

Anyone have an OE or OE-replacement Fiero strut laying around that they can cut open to measure the ID for me? I want to see what size strut inserts I can fit inside.

Had you asked last year, it would have been easy. I cut apart about 10 rear struts when I was purging parts for the move.

I have a couple hanging around, but it'll probably be next weekend before I could do anything with them.
All you need to know is the ID?

ID & OD would be great.

If it's not too hard to pull the internals out, and you can measure the free depth (there may be an internal bump stop structure?) that would also be useful.

Ahh, so that's why you mentioned towing a trailer with the mule...

Yep... I picked up the Class nothing hitch from The Fiero Store years ago. My dad only had Class 3 drawbars, so we cut the hitch apart and had a Class 3 welded into it so we'd never have to worry about not having the right drawbar. It gets some comments. I amuse myself by calling it Smokey Yunick's rear lower frame brace.
