Distributor Magnet upgrade? Really?

Dont know if anyone has seen this but it is $60USD for Magnets for the Distributor system in a 2.8L V6 application.

Mine looks all nasty and rusty as hell but I dont see how using these will make the system work better. Does this make sense to anyone?

Here is the link to the item in question. http://www.tlg-auto.com/Fiero_Distribut ... eng004.htm

Hell if it is just strong magnets I have a bunch left lying around from pulling apart Hard Drives, now those are super strong magnets.

Seems like snake oil to me, of the 24 plus years and all the Fiero's that rolled through my shop they all worked fine with a stock distributer in good condition. I've seen them that the bushings worn out but never any issues with the magnets / pole piece. I've replaced lot's of ICM's and Pickup coil's and a few bushings but never needed anything like that.

My thoughts too... The pickup coil signal just has to be strong enough to trigger the ignition module. Stronger signal doesn't get you any additional performance, AND if the stronger magnet helps, then you really just need a new ignition module.

Yes TLG is selling snake oil, maybe all we have to do is add more magnets lol.
