Will the ICM and Pick Up work?

Post by Identity Crisis »

I am rebuilding the Stock 2.8L Distributor and I am trying to find all the replacement parts needed.

Can anyone tell me if this MSD ICM/Pick up will work in our Distributors? It says it is for the 4.3L Dist., but I do know that they are very close to the same.

Thanks for the knowledge.

It's not plug and play, the 2.8 ICM has 2 pins in the back side that the pickup coil (PU ) plugs on to, also the PU on that 4.3 assembly isn't compatable with the Fiero distributer. I susposed one could cut and solder the Fiero pick up coil leads to the 4.3 ICM but that seems to be more work than it's worth seeing the Fiero ICM works fine.

Then there's the circuitry / electronics compability between the 2 if it's the same or not, again it's not worth the effort to find out.
