Something to that effect. This project is now on hold though. I moved back to Buffalo and within a week I had a blue-hair back into my RX8 in a parking lot resulting in enough damage to get a new door, fender and respray of half the car. Plus I decided I'm bored with the WRX and I will be ordering a brand-new car (350+ hp, AWD, and track-ready out of the box) very soon.

Congrats on the magazine article Steven! It's well deserved and I will be certain to save that copy of GRM.

Crap! I just finished my crazy 10,000 M3 track day road trip, spent 10 days moving all my stuff to a new house and I'm already in another car-prep hustle. The car needs to be cleaned up and ready for filming in a few weeks. It's technically ready now besides cleaning and some fresh spark plugs -- assuming that's why it's running rough -- but I have a few things that I want to take care of before then since film is forever.

More details as I can share them.

Last Friday, Matt Farah of The Smoking Tire and /DRIVE channel spent the day track-testing my Fiero at a Speed District event at Buttonwillow Raceway.

It was awesome seeing my car covered in cameras, and nice to hear that the car was fun to drive from someone who has driven everything from Lamborghini Aventadors to the Hennessey Venom GT.

I'm not going to post any spoilers, but the video is going to be AWESOME. Even if you don't have a subscription to /DRIVE+ ($4 a month) there will be a shorter (5 minute) video on /DRIVE channel, which is free. The one on /DRIVE+ will probably be ~10 to 15 min. I'll post the link in this thread once it's available. It should be up on /DRIVE in a week or two.

For once I get to come home from a track day and not have to edit any videos myself!

A few pics of my car covered in cameras:

The video should be up on /Drive sometime in the next few days or the beginning of next week.

Here's a cool photo from the shoot that was posted on The Smoking Tire's instagram. I love how fat the tires look in this shot:

The difference in contact patch between the inners and outers in that last photo is impressive.

Another weekend coming up at the track.. going to try out my splitter ducts (http://realfierotech.com/phpBB/viewtopi ... 40#p151130) and J-body wheel bearings (http://realfierotech.com/phpBB/viewtopi ... 00#p151037).

Today I hardwired a Mobius Spy Cam into the dome light circuit and housing. I used a DROK power converter that comes pre-wired with a female USB A connector and a mini USB B. Perfect for plugging in the camera that will run every day (for insurance purposes) and a GoPro when I'm at the track.

Luck was not with me for making it out to the track this weekend. I replaced two worn wheel bearings, a bent front knuckle, split tie rod boot, rear brake pads, brake fluid, rebuilt my clutch slave cylinder, and more... Car was running GREAT! Then right as I was leaving to go to the track, my #4 fuel injector coil shorted and I was down to 5 cylinders. Sigh. Next event is in two months.. going to buy new injectors (at $60 a pop!) this time instead of cleaned and tested ones.

On the bright side, my car made it onto the featured rides of the week list on Wheelwell.com!

Here's a direct link to my Wheelwell page: Steven Snyder's 1988 Pontiac Fiero.

Found a fantastic deal on new GM injectors from Rockauto, who has closeout pricing on GM part# 17104256. Less than half the price from GM!

I'm not sure what the difference is between 17104256 and 19239661, but both only show 91-93 DOHC on the interchange list, so it should still have the DOHC-specific spray pattern. I'll check when I get them.

What's the flow rate on these?

The Northstar's are 19ppi with a specific spray pattern. I'm currently running Ford Motorsport 19's, but at 312 RWHP, they're working pretty hard. Unfortunately I don't have actual duty cycle data, though.

Stock is ~22 lb/hr, hoping these are the same!

Wow, it's been awhile.

June 2016 my clutch pressure plate failed on the track (stuck engaged), and I limped the car to WCF where it sat for a year.

I spent a few weekends up there replacing the clutch and giving the car a much-needed wiring refresh, and a full redesign of the engine coolant piping with a higher flowing thermostat (Ford V8 application), full flow bypass path, surge tank, and steam lines (it completely self-bleeds now). I also rerouted the cam oiling per http://www.60degreev6.com/vb5/forum/doh ... -tick-cold.

Then the car sat for another year.

Finally, I bought a house, got a new job, and traded my Subie for a trailer ride home for the Fiero.

It's finally finally finally home.

Image

I paid the registration last week and just need to finish some gauge and lighting wiring so I can drive it to the smog place so it can be road-legal again. Almost back in the Fiero game!
