Staggered offset
Hey guys, quick question...i was gonna run 18'' 225/40/18 on the front of my car and 265/35/18 on the rear of my car...i was told this might damage my axles, create uneven wear...create over/understeer depending...bbc those size tires (same brand and tire type) have a different speed rating between the different sizes. Is this true? does using a staggered tire fitment with different speed ratings risk damaging your car?

Re: Staggered offset
They are both Y rated which means they have the same speed rating. The number is the load rating. Basically how much weight the tire is rated for.

Re: Staggered offset
IOW, no damage.
What wheels and wheel sizes are you running?
I had a Pontiac 6000 AWD.
I ran 245/50-16 V-rated tires on 16x8-20 wheels on the front and 205/60-16 H rated tires on 16x7 wheels in the rear. There wasn't a plan to this... just that those were the speed ratings in which those sizes were available from the same MFG. The larger front contact patch helped the very nose heavy car handle better. I theorized that the stiffer sidewalls on the higher speed rated front tires helped even out the front-rear mismatch also.
