low buck tires?

I'm planning a trip in the Suburban, but it's going to need new tires before I leave. you guys know of a budget all terrain tire in something like a 31x10.50r15 or maybe a bit bigger? I don't want to spend a crazy amount of money on tires until I have the truck setup on the Dana 60/14bolt because they will almost certainly require new(larger) rims to clear the brakes.

big lugs, deep tread, look like they might not be too loud, but it's really a crap shoot, they have 1-2 reviews here and there, but nothing that I can evaluate... being ching chong tires, I don't have very high expectations, but I think they can get me to Alaska and back, and probably be pretty solid on some moderate trails.

for about $300 more, I can slide into some 33x10.50 BFG AT TA-KO2's which I KNOW for a fact are a solid tire, I've had them on my 2500HD almost since I bought it, in 2013.

the BFG's are a tough sale only because they may only be temporary, the plans for the truck include 8 lug axle swaps, which would mean new wheels, and 15's probably won't fit over the new, bigger brakes. If the BFG's turn out to be on there way longer, then it won't be a problem, the cheap china tires on the other hand, might not be so nice after a few thousand miles past when I thought they'd be gone...

Thought about getting cheap steel 16" wheels now and spending money for good tires which you can then transfer to 8 lug 16's when you get your axles swapped? You may also be able to re-sell the 5 lug 16's.

That's also an option. I saw a set of used 17" BFG's for $80 on Facebook market, they looked good, I was going to buy them, but they're on the east coast... I may just have to patiently keep my eyes peeled for a deal.

You *DO* know 16.5 is a dead size and only HumVees use it, right?

IOW, when you wear those tires out, either you find another set of HumVee tires for sale or you change wheels...

ETA: BUT, I guess that's what those wheels are made for, right?

yep, I'm looking at about $400-500 for wheels and tires, if I can get these at the price I want. way cheaper than any other option I have seen, for way more tire. I will need a lift to accommodate them, and new rear gears (I have has 4.56 gears already for the front) but these are things I was going to do with the truck either way, so no real big deal there.

Those wheels are also available with 8x6.5 bolt circle, so I can swap these tires to an 8 lug axle as well.

it's over, I've talked myself out of the 37's, they's just be too much. it would take at least a 6" lift, and I don't trust a stock 10 bolt to handle that much tire. I guess this means back to the drawing board...
