dod delete, healthy cam(LS6 or LS7 can be had CHEAP) intake and exhaust. with a manual trans it would be a blast. Fieroguru makes a starter mount that works with just about any transmission. not sure if he still makes flywheels or not. if you want to get silly, I bet someone makes a supercharger kit for it.

Sell it to fund your next turbo V6?

I was thinking a cam to bleed off low end torque and an itb intake in keeping with a theme.

I gotta get the cradle out first which is what I was gonna do anyways to throw in the 3900

Staying turbo? Going 6 speed?

Ls4 is no turbo.

3900 will be turbo.

Playing with both ideas right now

ARP rod bolts + cam, valvesprings & pushrods and it'll turn 7000.
The heads are a well known commodity, with good port jobs widely available. You'll want to swap to an LS2/6 style intake manifold and do a DOD/AFM delete.
As always with Fieros, the exhaust will be the fun part.

Anyone know if an ls4 will fit in the engine bay and clear the strut towers of an 88 without shifting the trans to the drivers side?

Can the stock trans stay in the same spot?

FieroGuru's car is an '88. Check out his build thread. He also sells most of the parts he built.

http://www.fiero.com/forum/Forum3/HTML/000123.html

He did a lot of fiddly stuff to try to keep DOD/AFM, only to find out it would never work without adding the Impala SS BCM to his car. If you skip all that noise, you can just go straight to an LS2 top end without a lot of the fussy stuff he does in terms of modifying the intake manifold and oil pressure sensor.

The way his starter mount works requires using a HTOB style transmission (@$$uming you're going stick).

Note that there are a lot of fit/futz style mods required to the water pump housing in order to get it to clear the Fiero firewall at the top. That casting also fights with the hinge box, so be aware of that.

Yea he used an f40 buy shifted everything to the drivers side. It seems noone know using stock trans location and clearances because noone does use stock trans

Ryan used a 4t65 that came with the engine.

Is the bellhousing face of the trans in the same location to the cradle between the getrag and 4t65 when mounted? I think people shift the trans to the drivers side a bit to do this.

I had @$$umed the trans was in the same spot for an LS4 swap as it is for a 3800 swap. I can ask.
