Oh, ok. Was going to ask how you intended to insulate/finish the interior... which is relevant to the climate based on your location.

24x36 would have been ideal, but I’m trying to keep a little bit of yard for peace in the house

Insulate as much as I can. There’s no middle ground here; it goes from one extreme to the other with maybe a dozen “nice” days in a year

it was a joke, no shop is ever really big enough. it looks much bigger than my current shop, or at least deeper. it looks nice, I can't wait to start building my real shop soon, over the next few weeks, I'm going to start developing plans.

Ok, maybe it’s not *that* bad usually, but it seems like it this year. It’ll be finished out in drywall and I’m doing overhead radiant tube heat. I also have a line on a mini-split to cool things down in the summer.

Looks like 2x6 wall studs?
You can alternate 2x4 studs on a 2x6 plate to result in better wall insulation. Too late now, though.

Interesting concept, but yeah, my walls are 2x6. The 12' ceiling and 2nd floor required it.

Ehhh... single pitch roof with a deck on top would have smoothed that right over...

That type of layout did come up during early discussion.

They’ll rent one of these to just any random asshole! It goes fast. I should have only done a 2hr rental instead of the whole day.

what do you think of the new GDO? I've been eyeing up that style, I like the idea of maximizing the available room, especially because I don't have high ceilings in the garage.

Seems to work ok. I don’t have the internet whatnot set up yet, but it opens and shuts an 18x8 without issue. Has an electronic deadbolt that I kinda like as well.

“Upstairs.” The ceiling is about 8’ in the middle.

The heater showed up this week. Too cold to really do anything with it just yet.

Looks sort of like this when installed. A number of shops I go into have this style and they’re happy with the performance and economy.

Looks like you don't have plumbing in the garage, so you won't have to keep the heat on 24/7 to keep things from freezing.

********************************************************************************

I know that attics are often left open with air circulating and the roof deck assuming ambient temperature.

How does it work with insulation covering the underside of the roof?

No plumbing, but I'll keep it at a "sweater weather" minimum once done.

There are baffles sandwiched between the roof and the insulation to keep the underside vented.

Slow going, but the heater should be ready just in time for spring.
