If they were to go ahead with the cast version of that engine, maybe. 14:1 compression in a street car, meh possibly not a good idea. Interesting though. Thanks for sharing.

I'm sure with some dollars unfolded they'd build a pump gas version.

The concept isn't new in the midget world, and the original SD4 engine was built along these same lines, just not as technologically advanced. Mopar aluminum midget engines have been around for quite a while... just not using anything that's a current production cylinder head. This unit being topped off with a current production casting makes it an interesting departure from the other products in this market space.

If I was going to run a super high compression, very expensive engine...I'd probably go over to 4piston and pick up one of their ridiculous 450whp K24 based offerings:

Oh, damn, aluminum rod and 16:1 as well. Grab that methanol!

Here's 4piston's equivalent product to Katech: https://4pistonracing.com/collections/m ... 4p-k24usac

Honda heads are pretty crazy. The best of both worlds would be the 4piston head on the Katech shortblock, but the bore centers don't match. I initially thought the 4Piston unit had a billet cylinder head, in which case the bore centers could be made to match.

I have to think a rotating assembly with a 78.4mm stroke will live longer at 9000+ RPM than one with a 106mm stroke.

Not that that's super relevant to the Fiero community %)
