I need gauges!!!!

I dawned on me that I'm going to at least need an aftermarket oil pressure, oil temp, water temp and whatever else.

I'm thinking of just replacing everything including the speedo and tach with aftermarket. I did this with autometer sportcomps quite a few years back.

Anyone have any suggestions? I like the autometer ultralites alot.

I'm open to different brands, digitals, etc.

Don't get drawn into the excessive instrumentation trap.

The only things you want permanently mounted in your car are gauges you actually use.

For instance, do you use EGT when driving or only when tuning? AFR?

If your car's tuned, you don'e need those two.

Interesting overlays. Where'd they come from?

I'd be interested in a tach with 8K at the vertical mark. I've already recalibrated it for the V8, doing it again to change the tach face won't be a big thing.

SpeedHut did them for me for around $115. Black with red reverse illumination, 185mph speedo using KPH scale, 8000 tach stock scale, Fiero emblem on speedo, and they included the Hvac controls. VERY nice product, and great customer service.

On a side note Will, do you know how to recalibrate the speedometer? Mine reads about 66% of the original now.

I want those gauges that daisy chain together and run off of one controller.

Maybe it is the Defi ones.

Defi huh. Nice stuff, but pricey. I like the wiring though.

I'm thinking:

Speedo
Tach
Water temp
oil pressure
oil temp
ammeter

We'll see. I still might go nuts.

I'm preoccupied with Autometer ultralite.

Im running 9 Autometer Ultra-Lite gauges... overkill but cool.
EGT / A/F / Oil press / Water temp / Volts / Fuel press / Nitrous press / Boost / Fuel level.
I seriously need the matching tach though...this black one will look dumb with everything else.

I am thinking of selling all my Autometer Ultra-lite gauges already installed in the Fiero cluster.

5" 160 speedo and 10k tach in the Main pod
2 1/16" oil pressure, oil temp, fuel level, water temp, vacuum, volts in a custom made pod above the stereo kinda like the rally pod.

All you would have to do is match up the wiring to the Fiero harness as they have already been installed in a Fiero and all gauges work. The tach will work with a 4, 6, or 8 cylinder. the only thing I don't have is the probe for the oil temp.

Install could be done in a day, easy.

I'm a big fan of VDO gauges -- not too expensive either.

I picked up a Defi catalogue at SEMA, they really do have the coolest shit with the Defi link and the heads up display. Neat stuff.

I sent you a PM regarding the tach / speedo and oil temp. I think I have all the other ones.

Bump. I'm probably going to buy the whole sh'bang tonite or tomorrow and I want opinions.

What I'm buying:

1) Voltmeter
2) Fuel Pressure
3) Water Temp
4) Oil Temp
5) Oil Pressure

Speedo, tach and fuel level later.

Defi is too pricey for me. So are the autometer Nexus gauges. Cool concept but damn. Big money.

I settled on Autometer Phantom until I looked at the fuel pressure gauge price--$200. The rest of the gauges are in the $60.00 range.

I started looking at Cyberdyne digital gauges. Cheap cheap cheap. Anyone use them? Waste of money?

Any other decent brands I should look into? There's ALOT of junk out there.

befarrer, that night pic looks sweet, was that a pretty straight forward swap or is it a wiring mess.
