So if I take off my wing...

Post by derangedsheep »

... what do I use to plug the holes? I was thinking of going wingless for the summer but I don't want to (read: am too cheap to) get another decklid without wing holes. I was thinking that I could get some of those bolts where the head is rounded off and use those. Four chrome dots on the lid wouldn't look all that bad, but those have that square section right before the threads and I don't know how well that would fit in the holes in the decklid. I haven't had my wing off in a long time. How much bigger are the holes in the lid than the studs on the wingstands? If theyre significantly bigger, I could put those bolts in the holes.

Thanks,
Steve

PS: I don't know if this is in the right section. It's not really tech and not really maintainence.

I believe it's dimes and JB Weld. Anyhow, now I have a strange craving for chicken.

Yeah they're little plastic things with some tabs to hold them in. They're available in like 6 different sizes. They're black. You'll find them in the misc hardware/hard to find parts isle next to the plastic bushings and screw covers and whatnot.

put electrical tape over the top. Fill with si9licone from bottom, let sit. Remove tape. Remove silicone when replacing the wing.

I just filled mine with silicone today. The plugs won't be waterproof.
